Awwww! I L-O-V-E "weird names"-threads. It´s like a personal fetish of me :rawr:

There is this one german family from one of those Sozialpornos at 2pm, who named their 14 kids:

Ulrike, Barbara, Chris Frank, Maja, Rambo Ramon Rainer, Thore, Samantha, Angel, Dwight, Xena, Gandolf Merlin, Odin Jens Junior, Dragon Dinoso Degen und Hajo Donovan Benvenuto

It´s legit, here´s the video from the show http://funny-videos.eu/frau-mit-14-kindern/ :cracking-up:

Snow Ball. There is a Hmong child whose siblings all have typical Hmong first names along with their Hmong last names. The most common last names are Xiong, Vang, and Yang. This grade school kid has the first name Snow, last name Ball. I have no clue why the last name was Ball, both parents had a Hmong last name as did siblings. And he did not have a winter birthday.

A friend today said she's celebrating her grandchild Talon's birthday. I don't know if Talon is a boy or girl.

I had a classmate named Sandy Candy. We always joked she should become a stripper.

I know Hmong siblings who are named Plymouth, Puritan, Mayflower, and Increase. Someone in that family was a fan of US colonial history. I also once had a Hmong student who named her daughter Dixiecrat.

Yes. The baby was originally named Latrine but when the hospital staff pointed that out the mother changed the e to an a.

Because being named Latrina is so much better than Latrine.

I've worked with a Princess, a Burgundy, a She-ra (she was not the princess of power!) and a few other WTFs. North West is the worst celebrity baby name I've heard in a long time. I keep thinking Kimye will announce it's a joke.

I'm the same.

Poor kid

Her parents are assholes. Trying to poise a newborn as a celebrity. I'm sure they're imagining clever future tabloid headlines about her. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Here's hoping little North pulls a Zowie Bowie and changes her name to something like Susan or Mary as soon as she's old enough.

I knew acquanetta too! I worked or her ex-husbands car dealership. She was a trip....I had to drive her to the DMV so she could renew her license and she wanted to give me a boom of her poetry as a tip.

I jump on this band wagon -

Pepsi Cola - Bridesmaid at a wedding that I was coordinating. When I asked about the uniqueness was told her father worked for the local bottling plant & her mother craved it while pregnant. Her parents thought it was a "sign."

Also a guy I went to H.S. with was named Jeff Jefferson.

Why do parents do crap like that?

I had a co-worker named Pepsi. She tok a lot of teasing because of it.

I couldn't be the vital statistics person in a maternity ward because I'd be asking mothers what the hell they were thinking with some of the names.

There was a head nurse when I was a student named Detroit Walker. She was born in Detroit, Walker was her married name. No one messed with her.

Didn't see any of those names in the St. Paul Hmong community. American names that were popular among the Hmong were Michael and Ryan for boys. Girls were still using mostly Hmong names although there were some Emilys'. I like the Hmong name Nhia, and I had both boys and girls with it.

My in-laws had friends with the last name Wolf. They named their son Alon Grey (Alon being an actual Hebrew boys name). When they got pregnant with a girl, they asked friends for name suggestions, and my FIL suggested Freyda Virgina. They ended up naming her Timber.

There's a woman in Wisconsin named Marijuana Pepsi. There have been several articles about her. She refuses to change her name because she works with students and she wants to teach them that they can succeed no matter what their background is. She did have to go by MP when she was a realtor, because teenagers would steal the "for sale" signs if her full name was on them.

My dad had a student named Crystal Glass. She was on a hockey team, and her response to all history-related questions was "Nuke 'em."

Finland has quite strict name laws, too. One can have 1-3 first names. Name may be chosen freely, but it cannot be a name foreign to the naming tradition in Finland, a name used primarily by persons of the other sex, a surname (except a patronymic as last given name) or a name already used by a sibling or a halfsibling, if this is to be the only given name (that is, a living sibling, one can reuse the name if that sibling is deceased).

In 2011 names such as Tiikeri, boy (tiger); Aquata, boy; Macadamia, girl; Thmas, boy or Kultasydän, girl (gold heart) were not accepted as first names.

I know of an actually person named Seymour Wiener. I always thought that his parents must just not have thought that through.

Finland seems to be a place of common sense. Isn't it Finland where if you drink and drive you lose your driver's license for good?

Let's see: I've got neighbors named Richard Poor (He goes by Rich), and a woman named Bambi (Not a nickname, her mother is obsessed with Disney.). And there's an unrelated girl I know whose actual name is Tweetie, I know a girl named Raakel (pronounced like Raquel), and another whose full name is Melody . A friend of mine, named her children Tatyawna and Jitayvis (Jeh-tay-vee-us). Some other weird ones I've heard: West Anaxamander (Actor Misha Collins' son), and a woman I went to a class with had a son named Kwynn, and a daughter named Renesmee-Ellarose (All one name, no idea what the middle name was.)
