This is a horrible read. The death of Lydia Schatz was the first step in leading me to Free Jinger. It happened in a city not far from where I live.

Oh, that's just chilling. Sadly, I can totally believe it. I've seen good homeschooling, but I've also seen it cover for withholding custody from a parent as well as denial of medical care.

Another common thread, in addition to homeschooling, is adoption. So many of these children were either adopted or living in the abusive home as foster children.

Ugh. Reading about child abuse is one thing I just can not stomach. I remember when I was in Jr. High all of my friends were reading A Child Called It.. It gave me nightmares for weeks.
