You can cook dried beans in the crockpot. I could never ever master the whole, "Soak it overnight, then boil the beans for exactly 93 minutes, 12 seconds for perfection, and if they're cooked a second over, they become mushy and gross" bit. Dump your legumes in the crockpot, fill it with water so that it covers the beans by at least two inches, cover it, and cook on high. (Or you could cook on low overnight, although I'd probably add more water if I did that, just in case.) I don't buy canned beans anymore. :) (You'll have a boatload of beans, but they freeze well.)

I do mine in the crockpot too, but I soak them over night and then boil them for a bit first....it helps get rid of the gas causing bits. I have a tasty recipe that can easily be tweaked if anyone wants to message me for it.
