Duggars on Today show again (Nov 14)

I've been called by my sisters' names and the dog's name many times and I don't think it had negative impact on my life. My sisters lived with their mom most of the year and I was the only kid in the house and it still happened. I was also the only girl in a neighborhood full of boys. I still get called "girl" when I'm home to visit. I don't think it's that big of a deal, really.

My mom did that too. I was always "Tau--John--JESS!!!" (John is my uncle). She's not even attempting the name, she's just thinking "Hmm, you're a boy, so you are Brother!" She does it in a couple other episodes too. Jackson is helping her with the laundry and she says "Good work, Brother".

My dad will sometimes accidentally call me by my sisters's names (sometimes I like to joke that my name's really "Amy--er, Michelle--oh, sorry Jane"), but at least he tries to get it right and will apologize when he realizes he's messed up. I don't think Michelle gives a shit, particularly towards the howler monkeys.

When will they be on? Do you have a source? I can't find on.

It's a clip you can find if you google the Today Show page and click on the clips (I think that's how I found it). It's a supplemental clip, that I don't think was on the actual show, with Anne Curry talking to a couple of so-called "experts" one of whom called the haters "jealous" that they couldn't control 2 kids like the Duggars control 19. And the woman, who has no clue, gave Mullet far too much credit for actually mothering. The "experts" know nothing about the people they are talking about other than they have a shitload of kids and "appear" (they used that word a lot...think about it) to have well-behaved, clean (yes, they said that) kids.

The good news is, there's a section to add your .02. I know I did.

Could someone PLEASE call JimBoob out on his comment on shingles vs chicken pox " ("now that you've had the chicken pox, you will never get shingles").

Their loyal fans will think it's actually true....

In fact, I'd like to see someone mix it up with them on the entire topic of vaccinations. Intersperse their vaccination indoctrination with those of scientists, or someone whose Q is over, say, 65 and can rationally explain

how! Vaccinations! work!!

Please tell me he didn't!

(from one who has had both)

Even with only two kids, I still get them names mixed up--with our pets.

Ha.

I am the oldest child by 5+ years, and still I have spent much of my life often being called by my sister's name, brothers' name, and our cats' names before my mum hit on MY name. And there were only four kids total.

Heck, even if my mum CALLS me sometimes she starts off calling me the wrong name.

I don't think it means anything. And she does that even with the cats.

Another fine example of how he has no idea what he is talking about.

Dude, you get shingles BECAUSE you have had the chicken pox. From the wiki on chicken pox:

After a chickenpox infection, the virus remains dormant in the body's nerve tissues. The immune system keeps the virus at bay, but later in life, usually as an adult, it can be reactivated and cause a different form of the viral infection called shingles (scientifically known as herpes zoster)

I actually dread getting shingles one day (I had chicken pox when I was young - before they had the vaccine) as I know people who have had shingles. Apparently it is very unpleasant and can be VERY painful for some people. I actually panicked a few months ago as I thought I had developed it on the back of one of my calves when I had these strange little itchy red bumps that looked like an early shingles rash. I still have no idea what it was, but it cleared up on its own after a couple weeks or so and I breathed a sigh of relief.

I got shingles when I was 25. It was horrible and very painful and I remember it took almost a month for the blisters and the pain to go away.Ugh, it was the worst!

Yeah, that kind of weirded me out. My mum's gone through my three sisters' names, my name, and the cat's name before finally calling me 'Whichever one you are'; I think it happens with all parents when they get frustrated. What I found odd about Michelle is not only that she doesn't even try to get the name right, but that she calls her son 'brother'. No matter how frustrated my mum got at trying to remember which one I was, I was never 'sister' because, er, I'm not her sister.

Yeah, calling people by the wrong name is normal. Everyone does it, don't they? I do it all the time - especially mixing up the names of my husband and our duck (not kidding  ). But maybe in this case, Michelle was calling Jackson "Brother" because she was getting him and Hannie to get along, I think she was referring to him as Brother like "this is how you treat a brother" thing.

Fortunately, there's a shingles vaccine available, and I'd love to get it for myself. I've had family members who had shingles, and every one of us had chicken pox as children since there was no vaccine. It was especially painful for my grandma as she's in her 80's and really frail these days.

Oh, maybe. I hadn't thought of that.

My husband is notoriously bad with names. He calls his sister by my name and vice versa all the time. He does it with his friends names, co-workers names. That doesn't bother me at all about Michelle, the fact that she barely seems to know anything about her kids is what bothers me.

I'm more concerned about _what_ they're taught than how long they spend teaching it. Did anybody hear Michelle when she was answering the question about her teenagers kissing somebody?!? How she got all choked up with anger and then kind of dismissed the question? Yeah, _that's_ what I worry about.

I'm interested by that. Does anybody have a link to that video?

I saw the segment yesterday and nearly horked. The so-called "experts" were so far up the Duggars' asses. I wish they would have brought on someone not drinking the Duggar kool-aid but that will never happen with the "ToDuggar" Show.

And big deal with Michelle homeschooling. We all know her educational methods are a joke. My sister is more hands-one and in-tune with her kids and she sends them to evil public school where they are learning Socialist French.
