I'm searching the internet for people who have met the Duggars at these book sightings!

All I gotta say to this one is BABYSITTERS!? I thought the Duggar's didn't believe in that!

Why would the employees say no photo posing, and no chit chat... and then the Duggar's do it anyway? Is that to make the Duggars look good, or the employees look bad?

The rest are being stupid so I will add them later

If the older girls are signing books, the built in 'babysitters' aren't available. It would be insanely boring and silly to expect the little kids to sit still for hours. I'm thinking mama D didn't have time to blanket train the younger ones anyways.

I saw that the Her Noble Character blogger had a posting about meeting the Duggars. I figured the Duggars were going to need an entourage at some point.

I'm not saying this is the case with the Duggars, but a lot of times the staff is told to deny autographs, pictures, etc so you don't put the talent in a position to say no. Also, they probably usually wouldn't mind posing for 1 picture, but people get greedy and start taking 50 (no, really), or if there is a long line, it's better to make sure as many people get their book signed as possible in the time allotted for the appearance than have to turn half the line away while half get pictures.

It's funny how in the last 10 years digital cameras and camera phones have turned these events into putting people on display. Most probably didn't bother to find their camera and load it up with film, but now they'll always have their phone. And if they did have film they had 24 shots and probably wouldn't take them all, but with digital cameras they'll take 100 pictures, just holding up the camera and setting off that flash in everyone's face. I totally (sort of) "get" the mentality that you went to this event and you take 1-2 pics with your phone and say, "Hey, look what I did/saw." But I really, really, really don't understand what people will do with 100 blurry, crooked pictures of a Duggar or a celebrity with the tops of other people's heads in the way, or the subject looking away etc.

(I used to work on a talk show and sometimes guests would sign, but then we'd have to clear the people out eventually. Or sometimes they would just shake hands and we'd have to stop the autograph seeking/flashes right in their face. It varied.)
