Last Tuesday, I believe. But the House can pass a resolution to rescind it... though that requires the Senate to uphold it, and I have my doubts that they would do that. And of course, it would be challenged in court. If he's thinking he can just declare a national emergency and be King, he's wrong.

I'm assuming what changed is that the threat of the declaration didn't bring the Democrats to heel, and he's tired of waiting.

I suspect he's fed up with not being able to play golf.  Also Vlad is putting the hard word on him to get out of various regions, not to mention his financial backers who want the deal they were promised - and how's he supposed to renegotiate if he can't play golf?

If a President decided to move to a foreign country, after leaving office, would Secret Service protection still be provided for life?

Good question! I suppose it would depend on the circumstances- is he fleeing prosecution? Was he working for the foreign country the whole time? Can the secret service tag in the KGB?

There are probably lots of secret service agents hoping his "protection " detail is handed over to the prison system, at this point.

I just want to say that I love this thread!  I do not like Trump and I can’t voice my opinion on Facebook for fear I might loose a few dog clients because they are big Trump supporters

@Jana814, I'm not in the same situation (friends and family are mostly Never Trumpers) but it's life saver to have a place to gather online to share and hear the latest, and commiserate about it all.

Faux bricks, faux news, faux wall. This new 2020 add for fuckface is going over like a ton of, well, bricks. At least among the rational. The base will probably be throwing real bricks any minute...

President Donald Trump has faced backlash after his 2020 campaign team launched a new fundraising drive to send bricks to the offices of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)

The Republican National Committee, Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale and Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. each hyped the initiative and its BuildTheBorderWall.com website on Twitter Friday:

...

“We have set a goal to send 100,000 BRICKS to their offices to prove that WALLS WORK!” it adds. It allows people to “send” one brick for $20.20. Subsequent bricks work out at $20 each.

However, the small print reveals the bricks will be “faux.” It also notes the money will go to the Trump Make America Great Again Committee ― “a joint fundraising committee composed of Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. and the Republican National Committee.”

The stunt drew ire on Twitter, where people suggested ― among other things ― that the act of sending a brick (faux or otherwise) could have more sinister undertones:

So it's not going to be a see through steel slated pointy topped fence? And it's not going to be a big and beautiful concrete wall? Now it's going to be made of bricks?

Although I have to give it to him, if the materials are to be supplied by the BT's sending it to Pelosi, that will save in costs. So will he be asking for less than the 5.6 billion he originally asked for? Is this what he's going to announce? ?

My iPhone alerted me to John Kerry saying that fuck face had a walk away Presidency.

Quote

Former Secretary of State John Kerry says President Donald Trump's actions on the international stage do not help the United States and show he is not a negotiator.

"This is the pull-out, walk-away presidency, and it is not enhancing the interest of the United States of America," Kerry told David Axelrod on "The Axe Files," airing on CNN on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

For a moment when I sa. w the alert I thought oh goodie...maybe fuck face is finally walking away from the Presidency.

And speaking of pulling out...someone should have done that about 73 years ago.  Would've saved the world a bit of grief then.

He's thrown so many childish tantrums, why can't he just throw the one we want? Y'know - the one where he screams "This is a stupid job and you all stink! I QUIT!"

So if it's much cheaper than projected, you won't need that 5.6 billion anymore, will you? That means you can end the shutdown!

Aww, ain't that cute! The toddler wants his State of the Union address.

  • I'm amazed he's willing to do it in writing, As the presidunce isn't literate enough to write something that's legible and coherent. But maybe Stephen Miller will be writing it.
  • I'm even more amazed he's willing to suck up to Nancy to come to an agreement.
  • No idea what he means with his contract is a contract comment.

Building, after all, is what I do best, even when money is not readily available!

This sentence was interesting to me because, partly due to his bad credit after four* bankruptcies, he apparently turned to Russia and the rest is history.  Maybe Putin can chip in a few more bucks.

I believe that Trump is referring to the fact that Pelosi previously invited him to  address Congress on January 29th, and then rescinded her offer citing security concerns. He thinks her offer and his acceptance means they have a contract together.

Nope. According this factchecking summary, he filed for bankruptcies 6 times.

Quote

Trump’s Taj Mahal opened in April 1990 in Atlantic City, but six months later, “defaulted on interest payments to bondholders as his finances went into a tailspin,” The Washington Post’s Robert O’Harrow found. In July 1991, Trump’s Taj Mahal filed for bankruptcy. He could not keep up with debts on two other Atlantic City casinos, and those two properties declared bankruptcy in 1992. A fourth property, the Plaza Hotel in New York, declared bankruptcy in 1992 after amassing debt.

PolitiFact uncovered two more bankruptcies filed after 1992, totaling six. Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts filed for bankruptcy again in 2004, after accruing about $1.8 billion in debt. Trump Entertainment Resorts also declared bankruptcy in 2009, after being hit hard during the 2008 recession.
