they could be watching the news from one of their computers. Projectors aren't pricey at all... maybe 150 dollars and 50-100 for the screen.

That was awesome! High five Sharon!

@endsidehugs28...I think we need more orthodox Jews in this world.

Read up on their lifestyles a bit more before you make that wish.  Judaism is an incredible religion (I came rather close to converting over a decade ago), but it is not without its flaws and problems, especially in the Orthodox and Ultra-Orthodox communities.  A short list of recommended reading: Uncovered, by Leah Lax; Cut Me Loose, by Leah Vincent; The Rebbe's Army, by Sue Fishkoff, Unorthodox, by Deborah Feldman; and Hush, by Eishes Chayil.  Basically, any religion can become a cult, and turning over one's life and decisions to a Rabbi is just as fraught with problems as following Gothard.  This is NOT to say that all Jewish people are handing over control of their lives to religious leaders (in fact, I know many practicing Jews who keep kosher and lead commendable lives -- but they're not orthodox.  They have some orthodox family, but they don't choose to live that way), but that fundamentalism, in any form, is dangerous.

I hope I'm being clear, since meaning and nuance is easily lost on an Internet forum.  But basically, trying to follow a set of fundamental laws and turning over decisions to a religious leader can be and is often quite dangerous.  There is a lot of beauty to be found in most religions; it seems that men twisting interpretations and/or trying to exercise excessive control over others is where problems are found.

Amen to this. I'm Jewish (Reform, so basically hippie-dippie cultural High Holy Hanukkah Jew), and there are a lot of awesome things about Judaism, but just like Islam and Christianity, we have a scary extremist, fundamentalist element. Are there devout Jews who live good lives, devote themselves to making the world a better place, raise their families with love and devotion, and uphold Jewish values like a love of learning and sense of community? Of course there are. But there are also fundamentalist Jews who throw rocks at girls who dress "immodestly", make neighborhoods completely unwelcoming for anyone who isn't in lockstep with their extreme beliefs, continue to defy international treaties by making settlements in Palestinian territories and then waiting for the IDF (which they won't serve in) to bail their asses out when Palestinians get pissed about it, follow the teachings of a designated terrorist named Meir Kahane, and cover up rampant abuse in their communities. I will not No True Scotsman these fundamentalists; they are just as Jewish as I am, and that's why I'm so invested in combating extremism. You can be devout, you can do your best to separate yourself and follow your religion's teachings to the letter, but you CANNOT use your beliefs to discriminate, hurt, or act above the law.

There isn't much traffic in this thread with everything else that's been going on, but has anyone got an idea what Tabitha Paine is up to at the moment? She registered to vote this past April giving the TTH as her legal address, so I assume she's still there. How do we never, ever, ever see her?

I think we have posted photos of her at the TTH. A couple of months ago she attended an Arkansas football game with some of the Duggars.

Did anyone see Pickles post about John David winning his constable race

OK, remember projector photo someone posted earlier? This is where it came from.

That's Elijah Kaneshiro's instagram... moment of silence for the confirmed Duggar Trump enthusiasm.

Apparently Elijah is ALSO living with the Duggars. He registered to vote in June from the TTH address. What's going on?

Possible further intrigue...

Could this be the guy Joy is courting? Seems pretty personal-space-sharing to give a non-family-member a haircut, at least by Duggar standards.

Duggar B&B. There is probably a cute sign swinging outside the garden gate.

Duggars don't have televisions? Do they rent the screen and projectors  for special occasion?

Nosey minds want to know.:confused2:

It's definitely a ceiling mounted projector, so I'm going to guess it's there all the time.

What I severely want to know is where all these people stay?  The floorplans of the TTH show gigantic communal bedrooms, and then we have the houses that the kidults move between, depending on who's Number One Child, etc - but what with adopting a relative, and live-in Cinderella Tabitha, and random guys, how do they DO it?  At least beds have become free in the girls' dorm (presumably Anna moved out, and I'd hope her kids actually live with her and Josh), but the boys' room is as full as ever.....  How do they manage it??

They don't watch TV, they just watch television shows projected from a laptop?  That is such typical Duggar doublespeak.

If they're watching on a big projector screen, how can Joy cover up the defrauding ladies?

Watching video like this, though, gives you even more control over the content, except for ads. There would be no chance you would accidentally click past something deemed inappropriate.

What if they get porn-y pop-up ads?

The boys' room was renovated recently. Instead of the freestanding bunk beds, they built in triple-height bunks. I think we figured they can sleep about 15 in there, so they have unlimited room for boys!

AND I'm pretty sure Jonathan Hartono built them for Jim Bob while HE was living there.

How can you tell it's ceiling mounted? I'm just curious because I'm pretty sure I remember an insta pic of a bunch of Duggars watching something that was being projected onto the side of a class-B truck in the yard. I don't remember whose IG it was, but I def saw the pic on FJ in the last few days. On second thought, I may have seen it on my own IG in which case it could've been a Morton shindig. Who knows.

Zoom in -- you can see it mounted on the wide center beam running the length of the room. Looks like there's an outlet there and everything. They probably have or have access to a portable projector, too.

The screen also appears to be ceiling-mounted.

1) Maybe they have Josh or JimBob cover the defrauders since they have the most... girth. While facing away from the screen of course!

2) Can Duggar males even look at Melania? Sure should not google her.
