As caffeine is a diuretic, I would also think it a good idea for the girls not to be drinking it in a tropical area where dehydration becomes even more of a risk.

Coffee has a mild diuretic. But, you take in more water drinking it then you loose due to it being a diuretic.

Coffee is good for sluggish digestive systems. My friend gives her daughter decaf coffee because it keeps her regular. Her doctor suggested trying it before going the more drastic routs. It works, she gets a cup in the morning with lots of milk. She feels like such a big girl.

Sugar does not actually make kids hyper. It's a myth, helped along by the fact that kids often eat lots of sugar at events like parties and holidays, where they are hyper (but possibly just because they are so excited, not because of the sugar). Maybe the party was just at a good time of day for the kids involved, or the activities were not too overstimulating. I think the sheer noise and hectic activity causes a lot of those birthday party meltdowns! :)

Re: the coffee, I don't really think it's a big deal unless we know Calista is drinking a lot of straight up coffee. I am a big coffee drinker, so my preschool son wants coffee because he wants to be like a grownup. At breakfast if he asks, I will put a tablespoon or two in a cup of milk for him and it's a big thrill to him. It's just enough to get a bit of a coffee taste, but not enough for the caffeine to be a worry. It's possible Lauren is doing something similar for Calista, or that the coffee is made weak in some other way. Even if it's fully caffeinated black coffee, that's not great, but honestly it concerns me a lot less than, say, the lack of shoes or the constant poorly supervised play in dangerous water areas. YMMV.

The picture was of Calista and Aisha making themselves coffee from little sachets, it looked like they were using the complimentary coffee in their motel room.

Much as I'm wary of kids and caffeine, I'm way more wary of kids and boiling water. I wouldn't be comfortable with a kid Callista's age boiling the jug and pouring boiling water, especially not with her little sister underfoot.

I did not know about the low tannin tea bags! Thanks! I had just been making a weak cup for the kidlets with the tea bag I'd freshly used for my cup - and I pretty much steep the life out of a bag for myself. There were mentions on the UK boards of a brand of tea for kids, but I don't know that it's available here. Yeah, the cultural differences are interesting. Tea and coffee for kids is Not Done here. But maybe there is a class difference too. My family is working class and my husband's is very much not. Still, it was an awesome, cozy little ritual and the kids and I all loved it, so I want to go back to it.

What about herbal teas?

I reckon Lauren's got the hots for someone big time.

A couple of her latest updates refer to not being afraid to tell someone you love them, and then wondering why she's sittings on a tropical island hoping for something to come out of her phone to make her happy.

Yearning for that special someone she's recently 'exchanged energy' with?

You betcha!

It makes sense that she's got her knickers all wet over someone, especially since there's been no mention of the last visit to David, and he couldn't appear at his court date immediately after that visit.

I reckon she told him she's doing, or about to do, the horizontal rumba with some dread headed earth boy. Now she's wasting her Bali trip breathlessly anticipating a call from her new love.

Rather ironic that she's in some tropical paradise, not with the object of her desire, but with her husbands mother!

Too fucken funny.

:evil-eye: The next scheduled court appearance is early June. Lauren appears to be in Bali for a month until mid-June and I wonder if the MIL is staying the whole time? Will any family members go to court, assuming it proceeds? News reports mentioned the mother and a brother being at the first hearing when it all happened.

Is it possible she wasn't able to go overseas without an escort?

Edited to add: majikfaerie is posting quite a bit about the Indo Unschooling Adventure. Only mention of Lauren is in the comments, although MF does tend to keep identities out of her blogposts, something Lauren could learn from...

Lauren really shouldn't be posting about psychedelics given her situation and the speculation that drugs contributed to the deterioration of David's mental health.

I suspect HollyBlossom23 to be the object of Lauren's desire, there is a certain intimacy that is sometimes visible between them in the comments. Unfortunately her Instagram is private, so I can't find out more about her.

I hope Lauren's new lover is female. She wont be able to produce more kids to neglect to death.

Sorry to disillusion you about HollyBlossom23. This is what I know:

My name is Holly I am currently travelling Australia in our Solar/VegeOil setup house truck, with Peck, Moss and Lotus. When I became a mama, i realised that in order to live authentically I needed to heal, integrate and upgrade so I could parent with total presence. This helped me challenge old paradigms of traditionally raising children and rethink in a huge way! I access amazing amounts of bliss while interacting mindfully with my kids on a day to day basis, they truly live on the leading edge of thought! we have everything to learn from them!

Well, Hollyblossom is a paragon of unparenting. In the one blog post I read, she's rhapsodizing about packing the four of them onto a motorbike to tool around Bali, and indulging Moss's newfound obsession with fireworks. She might make Lauren look responsible!

Peck, Moss and Lotus?

Sounds like a law firm representing David Crosby in a sperm donation custody case.

Absolutely fucking awesome. And to think I was about to clean out the fridge and dust my ceiling fan this afternoon! This looks like much more fun.

(btw, clive bixby, blogspot links give away your country location. You can edit them.)

Don't get too excited. She only has about a dozen posts.

Sad face.

But, she's craaaaazy. Pyramid scheme seller, Moss is the oldest, born in June 2007, therefore 41/2 when exploring fireworks. Peck's her patner, Lotus' father, Lotus born March, 2011.

She recommends this book

Quantum Eating is the gate to health and longevity. Questions about aging which have baffled thinkers and scientists for centuries are answered in clear, straight talk mingled with attainability and hope. This truly mind-energizing book is filled with fresh insights that challenge our most basic assumptions. This book addresses vital, fascinating topics: the quantum body we occupy... raw foods as concentrated sun energy... the circadian rhythms of vital organs... should we sun-block the sunlight?... breathing for optimum weight... oxygen therapies... and many more. It explains how you can be malnourished while eating a lot of healthy foods, how you can be dehydrated while drinking a lot of water, how you can be shortening your life by using certain supplements and how you can be aging your body by eating at night. This book is candid, intimate, and intellectually illuminating - on the very edge of new science. Quantum Eating exposes the limits of the mechanical thinking and materialism that dominate most modern anti-aging research. Quantum Eating is about stepping away from a three-dimensional view of the human body and into the multi-dimensional world of healing possibilities. It offers rare optimism about aging. An easy, natural "elixir of youth" can be achieved without being a slave to traditional medicine. Life is a grand adventure. This book offers a way for us to reach for an optimum level of well-being in order to live the grandest life we can. Pour these new ideas into the chalice of your life, and watch it overflow with pure joy and vitality!

LOL She's pure spirit, but of course, who wants to look old? Old is ugly!

the water rich raw foods communicate with the body on a cellular level, keeping me hydrated and energised, healthy and looking young.

I think Lauren's lover is CurryDong.

He would do fine. Unlike Lauren, he seems to care about his kids and they seem cleaner and get into less hazardous situations. And hes not killed any of them. Thats a plus.

Holy hell, it's like Lauren cloned herself and made another blog.

No wonder they're best friends. Being friends with someone just like herself is perfect for a narcissist like Lauren.

About that - I've been wondering why the husband's mother tagged along. Did she want to, did Lauren want her to (can't imagine that) or was it some kind of condition imposed on her somewhere along the way if she wanted to take the girls out of the country?

I can't believe her kids aren't scared to death of water, I wouldn't be letting mine in water just because of the memories it would trigger. I know that's been discussed before though..it still irritates me.

On the Caffeine issue, I see kids these days all the time in the coffee shops drinking coffee...its like the thing to do around here it seems. When I was a kid we weren't allowed near it. I never let my older kids have it but we aren't coffee drinkers around here so we didn't really have it. I did buy some in hopes my youngest would drink it but she won't so once in awhile we use mountain dew since it has a lot of caffeine in it. The reason why she is given it is because along with ASD she has ADHD so in her case it calms her down so we get the opposite effect. For now its manageable and we can use it instead of a medication.

I think I am going to take her visit from the mother in law and the smiles on the kids' faces at face value. They all look like, well, they are having fun in paradise. And that's great, they desperately need that.

Gonna say she's probably not pregnant (hallelujah) given that she just posted a photo of herself surfing. Her dreads desperately needs some maintenance though!

She looks really young in that picture.

Hmmm, the mother-in-law is leaving. I wonder if that means she's going back in time for David's court appearance, which should be early next week......
