Just wanted to mark that Feb. 11th is the 50th anniversary of her death. She is pretty much my favourite poet and really helped get me through some tough times. "Lady Lazarus" is probably my favourite poem of hers, and The Bell Jar is a magnificent book. Such a sad story. Such a fantastic poet. If I could write a tenth as well as her I would be thrilled.

Here's a video of her reading her famous poem "Daddy":

Ooh, I'm sorry I missed this yesterday. Very cool, and sad. I loved "The Bell Jar", but definitely need to experience more of Plath's poetry.

Read her in high school - she fascinated me but also made me very rather sad and depressed.

It's weird, but I went through a lot of her work during my depressive period and it gave me hope. It's odd because we all know how her story ends, but - well, I'm a writer and I'm glad to see that she was at least temporarily able to put her mind together and create such beauty. Even with all she went through, that achievement can never be taken away from her, and I hope that one day I will create like that too.
