Up until a few years ago, NYC's Hassidic community was always treated with kid gloves or given an outright pass for their child abuse/molestation scandals. It also helped that the community could "disappear" an alleged abuser to ISR when the law would close in. It follows the usual pattern, respected authority figure (rabbi, teacher) abuses kids and gets away with it. A lot of parents don't go to the police because in the Hasidic community this is a form of "snitching", and puts the family's social standing and ability to make marriages for their children in danger. This isn't limited to the Satmars, the Lubavitch also have had multiple accusations and investigations both in NYC and in Australia.

Same old story, different religion.
