Genius the Movie (Ray Comfort & John Lennon)

Has anyone seen and heard about Ray Comforts newest propaganda piece?

Genius the movie...

This time riding the coat tails of The Beatles, specifically band member, John Lennon! and spinning it into "everyone is a potential hitman!"

A quote from their [link=https://www.facebook.com/geniusthemovie]facebook page[/link]-

Ray Comfort, the producer of the award-winning “180†has made a new movie that is simply called “Genius.†Comfort said, “After ‘180’ was viewed by millions, we kept being asked if we were going to make something similar. I wasn't too enthusiastic because I didn't think we could top it. But now that we have finished “Genius,†I think it will be much bigger, because of the unique subject matter.â€

“Genius†gives insight into the life of John Lennon, and according to Ken Mansfield (the ex-U.S. Apple manager for the Beatles) "[it] will open your eyes." Reviewers of the pre-release are giving it two thumbs up. Best-selling author, Randy Alcorn, said it is “Fast-paced, thought-provoking and compelling.†World Net Daily’s Joseph Farah responded with, “You have outdone yourself!†while Ted Baehr of Movieguide called it “An entertaining and challenging insight…watch and wonder.â€

Comfort, added that he was amazed to discover that the Beatles aren't simply a rock group from a by-gone era, but that they are appealing to a new generation. "They have sold more than 2,303,500,000 record albums, and in June of 2012 they hit number one on iTunes." Many believe that John Lennon was a musical genius, "But†Comfort noted, “‘Genius’ goes deeper than just looking at the brilliance of the murdered singer. It reveals the chilling reality that we are surrounded by people who would kill for money."

More Ray Comfort clutching at straws and trying ride the coat-tails of others celebrity to make ridiculous straw-man points. Ray Comfort is a JOKE to his religion and makes a mockery out of it and God!

I really fail to see how anyone can take him seriously and think he does anything of benefit for religion or God. He paints a pretty horrible picture of Christians. I really don't understand why people wouldn't realize how insulting it actually is to them.

Its pretty obvious he was going upto unconventional looking people, looking for a specific response (like he always does) and they were just complying with what they knew he wanted to hear. I would love to see the un-cut version of this.... We all know he spends all his time doing this, so he would have days of footage, and I doubt it would all be like that.

Anywho, just wanted to post and get your responses. He really does disgust me, this guy.

I think most of those people were trolling him and he was too dumb(or just doesn't care) to notice. If a guy like Comfort came up to me and started asking stupid questions, I would start giving the "wrong" answer too just to see his reaction.

Hells yes. If Comfort came up to me, I'd just skip ahead and tell him I'm on my way to my 27th abortion. It would be hilarious when it showed up in his next film.

Also, I wonder what does this movie hope to prove?

"See the world is heathen and needs Jesus?"

So then how does this movie help others to Jesus, because even if I were genuinely curious, which look I am, this bizarreness doesn't scream out to me, HECK I better come to Jesus now, because I don't want to be like one of those heathens and I don't want some heathen to kill me for the money!!! .. :?

Or is this just one great big Christian circle jerk?

Oh look how great we are, we would never take money for murder, but we will take money promoting this thing called Jesus and make money off materials for that!!!

 Really just does my head in.

That, or the "reporter" is just a voice-over and these people were asked [a] completely different questions altogether.

Nine out of ten people would say "Yeah, I'd kill someone for money" for the lolz.

I can't get why anyone takes this fucker seriously. I mean, mental inventory of people you know. I just did that and I know, at the last count, over 300 people. I know I could kill someone but the day I do it for money is the day I hate myself forever. Out of this 300 people I could think of two other people who probably could. Neither of them would do it for money and neither of them would ever even want to do it at all. So having the capacity isn't the same as having the desire and especially not the same as wanting to do it for cash reward.

It's like "I know these people can do a bad thing. But they know it's a bad thing. Therefore they don't want to do it." That's how I feel and how they feel too.

I still get the living waters newsletter from my fundie days. It's free and fun for a laugh on a bad day, so I never unsubscribed. Plus I'm just lazy with that sort of thing. I saw this a week or so ago in my inbox and thought it was so stupid. The trailer just me both  and  and :? . What was the point? I never really got the point. Everyone is capable of murder and only God can prevent you from committing murder? Say what? I don't think I'm "capable" of murder. Then again I don't know because it never crossed my mind to even consider it. It'd be more likely for me to kill myself before I'd kill someone else, but I don't want to do that either.

I think anyone who says that God is the only thing stopping them from murdering everyone is probably a psychopath who actually does think of killing people but doesnt.

Yoko is gonna be pizzed. She is gonna bury Comfort up to his neck in lawyers.

I hope so. She was able to get the "documentary" Expelled from using "Imagine" in a context that was the exact opposite of the song's meaning.

A link to the video was sent to her yesterday to make sure she's aware of it.

Wait, so, he's saying it's John Lennon's fault that he was murdered by a deranged fan because if Mark David Chapman worshiped Jesus instead, he wouldn't have killed him?

Or is he accusing ~heathens~ of being murderous bastards and what the hell does that have to do with John Lennon?

Did he only just discover the "Beatles are bigger than Jesus" remark from 1966? If he did, he does realize John wasn't being serious when he said that, right?

Why am I asking so many questions?

I'm a huge Beatles fan and this pisses me off. I hope Yoko sues his ass off, or at least releases a statement condemning him.

More great thoughts and basically this whole bizarre 'movie' really does just cause more questions for me, and I really just can't understand the argument it has and the relation to John Lennon etc....

Ray Comfort should stick to handling his banana. :banana-angel:

The "movie" is now up. Its only a half hour long if you can bare to sit through it...

http://geniusthemovie.com/

Its basically his same brand of cray-cray, going around asking people if they're a good person, if they have lied, stole, looked at someone lustfully... Only with facts about The Beatles and John Lennon strewn in, and the questions setup to initially ask people about John Lennon, how he died etc. Of course it comes that he points out they are sinners and not 'good people' and will go to Hell if they die right now (By his logic) miraculously everyone featured on the movie by the end, magically decides to pray, of course never showing someone who dismisses that. Except one rant from a lady from the soapbox public speakings he does.

At around 18 Minutes; Comfort does that whole "are you a good person" thing, have you lied, stolen, look upon a woman in lust etc... To one guy he asks the last question, Have you looked upon a woman in lust, and the man replies "No". COMFORT comes back with "ARE YOU A HOMOSEXUAL?" and the dude looks at him and goes "bleep NO!" ... Someone is really self righteous to be going around thinking and saying to everyone that, you're either full of lust for women or are a gay! Either way, you're not good enough for Ray Comfort and his God. Which is my biggest problem with this seedy self righteous 70's porn failure.

23 minutes an awesome strong woman is telling him off, although a bit angrily and rantily (I assume they picked the most unflattering objector.) He tells her not to deflect his questions of "how do you know!" and she asks him "HOW DO YOU KNOW!?" and he just keeps going on about "you're deflecting!!!" Then he does the whole "how many animals did MOSES take into the ark" and all those questions that you can get wrong easily because its wordplay (since it was Noah and not Moses) and he tells her to TRUST GOD because OBVIOUSLY she doesn't have all the answers, based on his little test.... urgh its really just wordplay and twisting questions and responses and leading them to a certain point, which really isn't hard to do.

I can't help but think he actually LOVES the attention this gets him, and loves making people out to be fools, and sinners and actually takes GLEE in thinking he is SO much better than everyone else and proving them wrong in his view. Honestly, it really isn't about God for him, but about his own 'celebrity' if you will and his agenda!

Its the same shit he peddles, with some Beatles facts thrown in! Staged questions and replies, just starting off with Music and The Beatles and John Lennon and going into the Jesus, death and Resurrection etc, his same old spiel.

I feel stabby after watching it and need a valium to calm down.

I believe MDC was a Christian at the time he murdered Lennon.

Surely you can't just go out and use anyone's name/image/information to promote your product in any way that you want? (That's essentially what this guy is doing)

Yoko has sued before and successfully with regards to using John's image. I sent her a FB message with a link to the film expressing my outrage. I know of others who are doing the same.

My money is on this. Lots of pastors/preachers have never gotten over this. I remember while attending one church it came up quite a bit, only the pastor used to say, "The Beatles said that they are more popular than Jesus", followed with a, "but the Beatles will die and Jesus lives forever." Every. Single. Time. Always made me want to scream from my seat, "John Lennon said it -- and he's already dead, you dumbfuck!" (this was many years ago when only John had left us.)

That, or the "reporter" is just a voice-over and these people were asked [a] completely different questions altogether.

Yes. Or they had thousands of versions of "hell no" and they used the few that said it for a laugh.

Oops - I posted in the instagram thread. Here's my version...

Summary:

Lennon was born so an ebil single mother and was raised by his aunt. He told a reporter that he was "more popular than jesus" and then the music was banned in the bible belt and they got death threats. This confused lennon.

The "more popular than jesus thing" was probably true because british churches were boring and had cold seats and surrounded by a cemetary. Brits didnt like jesus because it was boring and the beatles were interesting so... um...

8/11/66 Lennon had a news conference and he answered that "he meant more to kids than jesus... he's not better or greater than jesus... it was all taken wrong." They wanted to cancel the tour but didnt because he was under contract. Comfort throws random quotes around... did Lennon mean it or did he not?

Comfort goes back to the street asking random people how he died... no one knows. He uses the same people from earlier in the clips. Then he gets some newer people who knows...

Flash to newspaper and the murder... talks about other famous people he wanted to kill.

Comfort asks the same street people and gets in a fight with a redhead who's screaming at the reporters. I like her... theres a discussion about heaven or not.

He throws a hypothetical about people theoretically stealing money from a bank if they could get away with it. Most people say they'd take it. Watch the background around 9:10 where he has to blur out some women walking by who are defrauding.

Next hypo - a woman wants to kill her husband and all you have to do is drop arsenic in his water and you cant get caught. Most people would also do it.

The people who wont say they wont do it because its all about morals and jebus. Stealing is OK but killing isnt. Comfort says that the only difference between murderers/monkeys and civilized people is jebus. Comfort "interviews" some kid where he's really just yelling at him about the big bang. He argues about 'athiestic evolution' being wrong... Love the "test your IQ" with einstein on it hanging behind around 14:40.

Switch back to Lennon. He didnt believe in evolution and it just gave the academics something to talk about.

back to the street, asking people how well they sing... People overrate themselves and how they sing and we do the same ethically. He asks people how many lies theyve told, how much have they stolen, used gods name in vain (thats very serious) - on guy says "oh my god" and comfort yells at him and says he'll have to bleep him, asks people if they look at a woman lustfully and thats adultary. He asks some guy if he's gay.

Everyone says they're "guilty" before god - fornication etc... now everyone says they'd go to hell. One guy says that he doesnt believe in Hell - comfort says that if he didnt believe in the electric chair and he was sentenced there he's still going.

Comfort now tells the people on the street that they're going to hell, switches to how god can forgive everyone if you acknowledge your sins and jebus saved you... god can legally dismiss your case because your fine was paid by jebus. Gotta let go of your sins and god can let you live forever... comfort starts bible quotes again. People stare blankly at him... Lots of them say that they'll immediately do it and repent and trust in christ. Those that want to delay comfort says they could die right now and they shouldnt wait.

People say that he's "blown his mind"...

Back to Lennon. Apparently lennon wanted happiness? Back to the red head. Screaming match in the street... there is no heaven... we need this woman here. Comfort says hes not judging her, but shes a "lying theiving blasphemous adulterer..." People are blurred in the crowd for their dress. The woman is standing on a box of some sort... Comfort knows her name. They go through the einstein chart. He says that cows dont drink milk... they drink water (um, no... baby cows drink milk).

Back to Lennon. He was moved by NBC's movie Jesus of Nazareth but then he went back and wrote an angry song "serve yourself." Lennon had a false conversion because of an unbiblical promise of a happy life. The "not getting caught" stealing is the same as the false conversion promise and people who convert to be happy are not really converted and will be judged.

back to the street, asks people if they are a good person. One person he's interviewing (27 minutes or so) I'm pretty sure is a transgendered person. (confirmed a few minutes later...)

Churches are a stranger to genuine converts because they havent truly repented. ie - you're in the wrong church. Talks to the "cross dresser" (his words) and mentions idolatry... says they cant go to heaven.

Back to Lennon... the murderer now has a "deep relationship with christ". He was a christian before he killed lennon. Refers back to all the other people that think they're christians but arent really christians because they dont address their sins.

"Imagine" really means that there IS a heaven. Its the concept of positive prayer. "Imagine theres no religion" doesnt really mean that, it means wicked people that fight over their religion.

BTW - this isnt a "movie". Its not even a documentary. Its rambling propoganda with a point that can be summed up simply as "you suck and are going to the wrong church. Even if you believe in jesus if youre not following my version youre wrong."

Lots of stock and media pics but no music. Guess the rights were too pricey.

Please credit my life account with approximately 30 minutes for the waste of time on this. I'm not bothering to fix the typos...
