Politico and crazy "abortion extremist" opinion

Article here http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/80013.html

From a strictly down-the-middle, neutral perspective, if one side of a debate is “extreme,†the opposite and countervailing side is equally “extreme.†It would never even occur to the media to apply this standard to abortion. Under the guise of upholding abortion rights, Barack Obama could favor denying legal protection to babies after they are born and the press wouldn’t bat an eyelash. In fact—he did.

What the heck?

And an article to counter the crazy http://www.theroot.com/blogs/barack-obama/there-s-no-such-thing-abortion-extremist

There is always an extreme counterpoint, I agree, but this guy fails to see what it is.

Extreme 1: Abortion is bad. Women should be forced to not have abortions.

Extreme 2: Abortion is good. Women should be forced to have abortions.

Middle ground: Let women decide when to have abortions.

This quote really got to me:

...a Democratic majority that will sooner desecrate the American flag on the Senate floor than restrict abortion in any manner.

Ummmmm... yeah, my body IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN AN INANIMATE PIECE OF FABRIC! I actually would rather desecrate a SYMBOL than tell someone what they are allowed to do with their reproductive organs. GAH!!!

Despite what some fundies may claim, I have never actually heard of Extreme 2 as someone's real opinion. And yet Extreme 1 is the standard pro-life position. Go figure. I like to take the sensible middle ground of letting women make their own choices. I never understood how people who want to impose their beliefs on others DON'T see how extreme they're being.

ETA I forgot a few necessary words.

I love that these people are all about preventing fetuses from being aborted but have no interest in lowering our infant mortality rate, which is among the worst in the developed world.

So..my son is getting married at the beginning of March and I tried on dresses today. I need to lose weight. I'm about 60-70 pounds overweight and I absolutely have to. I'm not one to post statuses but I'm doing everything I can to hold myself accountable. I'm sitting here wanting to stuff my face and I know this isn't the answer. I can do this. I will be okay. I'm going to make myself check in regularly. Whether or not anyone sees this, I am going to be posting.

Is anyone here from Moore County, NC?  I hope they catch the domestic terrorists that shot up the power substations.  All to stop a drag show!  Throw the fuckers in jail.

What do people do in the Sonoran desert? I've hiked the hikes I wanted to do. Seems like all that is left is golf, shopping at chains that exist everywhere, and stuff I've done. Oh and eating. I can only eat so many times a day. It's too cold to rent a paddleboard or swim.

First snow storm of the season hit today. It got windy tonight, and we lost power. Somehow this continues to be a shock to PSE. Why they refuse to upgrade the infrastructure or do something so that 10s of thousands of people don’t lose power and heat literally every time it’s windy, I do not understand. We live in the Pacific Northwest. It gets windy!

Nebraska's new football coach is an evangelical bullshit artist who participates in "Man Up Ministries" conferences in the off season. Their motto is "Fighting for Biblical Manhood". Excuse me while I go vomit.

      Long time no visit…
COVID has finally caught up with me. Dad tested positive first, last Friday, then my mother, brother and I all tested positive today. Main symptom is feeling really really tired. Hopefully it doesn’t get much worse 🤞
