Upcoming Diablo Cody movie possibly inspired by NieNie

I was lurking awhile ago on the GOMI forum thread for C.Jane and NieNie. One poster posted about an upcoming Diablo Cody movie that is about a young Christian evangelist woman who gets burned in a plane crash. I read a couple of articles and Julianne Hough was cast in the lead role. I wonder if Diablo was somehow inspired by Stephane Nielsen. It seems the movie is going to be a dark comedy.

This is off topic, but I took my pain pills and I'm groggy and I misread the thread title as "Upcoming Dildo Cowboy movie possibly Inspired by NieNie" and I was like "what the holy fuck?!"

What do you doubt, Patsy? That it is about NieNie? I haven't read the whole thing, but I do agree it bares just a passing resemblance to her story.

If it were Mormon fundie, plane crash that leads to horrific burns, eventuating in woman questioning her faith the tiniest bit, but really not that much at all and definitely not running off to 'lead the life of a sinner', I'd see a resemblance, but even then you'd need the Mormon thing to make it suspicious to me. Person dedicated to X is challenged by Y horrible life event is a pretty common story.

After reading the scriptshadow blog, I don't think Diablo Cody was inspired by NieNie. On the GOMI forums, the person who posted about the Cody movie said maybe that this particular movie would squash any chances of NieNie's book being turned into movie because of the similarities. I do think NieNie would jump at any chance to turn her book into a movie. But I don't think Heaven is Here would ever get made into a silver screen movie and at best I can see it being made into a TV movie.
