They look more comfortable with each other in that picture. I'm glad.

Also, if their folks really are giving them space, that makes me happy too.

Fireworks? *gasp* that sounds almost......F*n

Except for Sarah, of course, who stayed home with the baby. Why didn't the baby's mom or dad stay home with her? Oh, that's right, Sarah is training to be a wife and mother...even though it seems wives & mothers pawn off their duties to others so what's to train for, really?

Admittedly, she doesn't say whether she stayed behind by choice or not. She may well have volunteered. It still just seems like more of her ability to be her own person is being sucked out of her at every turn.

 I was thinking "F-N? Effin? Oh, FUN!" Yes, that really is a no-no word in Maxwell-land!

Oh, absolutely. None of the above are doing her any favors.

More proof that the Maxwells, or at least Steve, read FJ.

They had fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They need to spend the rest of the week fasting, praying, and talking about death to counteract all that ebil fun.

Steve and Terri rule that whole family with an iron fist. I think she has just as much hand in it as he does though.

Fun keeps you from focusing on death. And Steve REALLY likes to think, and talk, and talk, and talk about death. To the point that he fantasized in one of his posts about what it would be like if everyone wore a sign that told you the date they would die :?

Oh, and down with the Easter Bunny...and those evil pastel eggs!

And Santa. Don't forget about him. And Christmas trees. And stockings hung by the chimney. And the tooth fairy.

I hope so because that means they are somewhat in touch with the rest of society. I'm really surprised they would be into fireworks. I figured they probably kneel in a circle and pray for all the soldiers who have died without being saved.

While you are here, Steve, please check out Uriah's Twitter. Uriah would be quite honored.

snark free post for me. I'm really glad they got to see fireworks. That picture actually looks like a happy family pic.

Nothing, really. It's just that since she married Christopher and joined the family, she very rarely appears in photos.

I hope they use that photo in their banner instead of the creepy zombie one. But since it's up to the Maxwells, I suppose gloomy and miserable > sunny and cheerful any day.

AM actually looks happy in that photo, but it's a bit creepy to me that Christopher has his tight clutch on her. Am I the only one who finds that disturbing? Smile like you're happy or you'll pay for it later!

Steve totally reads here. There's a reason they finally got a big rug for their bible room (and why Christopher and AM have resurfaced). There was a discussion awhile back about how cold and austere that room was -- Steve, thanks for listening and giving your family an ounce of luxury! And the frumpers have all but disappeared. Stevie, you are listening!

And AM looks much older than she is. Poor thing. But I actually kind of like her dress (it's not a frumper!). OMG, am I becoming a fundie?

BTW, the fireworks are completely defrauding. NO ONE should enjoy fireworks. It's simply unMaxwellian.

Are we sure it's Steve, not Terri who reads here? From what it seems like with other fundie families, it's the mother who holds the key to the computer.

Cuz men look at the porn.

I hope it's because he can't keep his hands off of her. Her smile looks genuine, she looks comfortable, and this is the most normal I have ever seen this family. I think Sarah is an absolute gem, and I think she is the type who would gladly volunteer to watch a baby so her SIL could enjoy the fireworks. I get the feeling Sarah is close with Melanie.
