Yeah same. I was tempted to ask my sister if she'd love her son any less if he turned out to be gay/trans later in life, but I don't want to know what her answer might be. She's a "good christian" and is quite the stuck up bitch.

"What about the children" makes a nice catch-all for whatever people want to clutch their pearls about, doesn't it? Let it be neither here nor there that many people who want to take away the rights of others "for the childrens' sake" end up sheltering their children pretty thoroughly anyway. But yes, let's sanitize our society and all bend over backwards so as not to accidentally expose your children to anything but your very narrow world view :roll:

Women who are afraid of men, trans people, and butch women. Women who want to bitch at or beat up trans people. Men who think they're looking out for women - one time, my (quite butch) girlfriend went to the bathroom ahead of me after a night class, and when I was headed down the hall to meet her a janitor said to me "Watch out, miss, a man just went in there."

Men who are looking for an excuse to beat someone up. Men who are looking for queer sex. Men who like to train their little boys to hate and fear difference.

If straight people didn't make it an issue, we wouldn't need laws about this; everyone would use the bathroom they felt comfortable in and nobody would mention it. Or try to make laws or workplace rules so other people can't pee in peace.
