Anthony Bourdain dead by suicide

I read yesterday that Barney Greengrass, the legendary New York kosher deli and Anthony Bourdain's favorite deli in the world, set up a table, in Anthony's memory, with  what he would order when he ate breakfast there:  scrambled eggs with Nova (Nova Scotia lox), a plain bagel and coffee which Anthony had "regular" that is with cream and sugar.

It is well known that he battled heroin addiction in the 80’s and received treatment for that, however he never stopped drinking alcohol. He was a very heavy drinker. Zero recovery programs would green light that for sober living.  I feel like he was always pushing the envelope and felt like he was different and could handle it.

Someone with background as an addictions specialist pointed out this very thing last week in a letter to the editor of my local paper.  I wish more people were addressing this issue as a likely contributing factor to his suicide.

I am still so saddened by this. One of our local channels has been running the episodes in his memory, and I'm watching and still just not able to believe it.  I wish so much things had been different.
