So they're taking off just as N&M have brought home a preemie?? With 3 other small children?? I wonder if M had a c section. Lord, I hope her family is more helpful.

Melanie's family is local, so she should be ok if she needs help.

After being captive in the hospital with the Maxwells for company she might be just as glad to get rid of them.

Hey! Sarah mentioned Uriah by name! She has taken to calling him "the bus", so I thought maybe they weren't calling him Uriah anymore.

Aren't the Maxwells just the most friggin' specialist people ever???? God timed it perfectly so Drew came home just before they had to leave. When you're a Maxwell God listens!

Sarah said in the comments Mel didn't have a "C". It sounds like they are coming back after the conference. She didn't mention their "vacation". Mary looks quite pretty in the bed making photo. She is very thin. She reminds me of Jinger.

I wonder if they will go on their annual August "vacation". Both brothers have new babies. Ruthie would probably be ok, but I wouldn't take Andrew out for several months. To many germs for a preemie.

The only house I have ever seen that is more bland than Steve & Teri's house is Nathan and Melanie's house. Those beige walls and drab couches are depressing beyond belief.

Sadly, this appears to just be a work related trip short weekend trip and not any time for what some might call a vacation. Kind of surprised they did scheduled a conference so close to Melanie's due date as blessing are the most important thing ever!

"Going on what some might call a vacation" is still one of my favorite things to come out of Sarah's mouth. It is just so freaking hilarious how special they think they are.

Nathan and Melanie live in the Maxwell's old home, don't they? Stuck with Teri's early 90s decor in Nathan's childhood home.....

God, could they have picked a name any closer to urea? They may as well have named him Little Piss.

From Wikipedia:

Uriah the Hittite (Hebrew: אוריה החתי) was a soldier in King David’s army mentioned in the Second Book of Samuel. He was the husband of Bathsheba, and was murdered by order of David by having the soldiers retreat from him in battle. Uriah's wife was pregnant by King David through an adulterous affair. Although under David's order to return home and see his wife, Uriah repeatedly refused to leave his post or leave the King's presence to see her. Contact between the couple could have hidden the adulterous nature of her pregnancy by David. As a result of this murder, David was rebuked by the prophet Nathan; furthermore, later turmoil in David's household and throughout the kingdom of Israel, including the death of Bathsheba's baby and the insurrection of prince Absalom, was contemporarily explained as punishment for the sins of adultery and murder.

Somehow, this story totally makes the naming of Uriah make sense for me in context of Maxhell....

.....

My thoughts exactly. Just think of sister Grace, the born-again former bad-gal with style and pizzazz, coming in to help with the little girls while another sister helps Mel with the baby care. Migosh, they might wind up trying on cowgirl boots .... !!!!

Wiki is wrong; David raped her. The bible days adultery, however, if you look at the culture of the time, Bathsheba really didn't have the power at all to say no.

Sorry, that always gets under my skin.

No worries! Go edit Wikipedia, baby. You have the power to correct whitewashing! Do it!!!!!!!!!(to eleventy!)!!!!

The whole thing is soooo Maxwell. Uriah was a victim of David's lust. It is like they are putting on the armour of Uriah, victim of the lust of the world, to travel about and spread their "message". Shivers.

Well, you aren't invited to my house than. Which is furnished with "whatever I can afford" and painted "whatever was on sale and good for resale/renters." I guess it's depressing, but It's not like I spend much time in it beyond sleeping and making lunches.

Although, I suppose if I was a SAHM and wasn't allowed to do anything other than "keep the house" I would probably put more effort into making the house look modern and welcoming. Maybe they really like plaid? How would someone paint a room with kids running underfoot, anyway? I don't know how these people can stand to get up in the morning and know that they aren't going anywhere or doing anything interesting.

Unless you're asking for a husband, or a wife on the first go around. :shifty:

If I had a car and a full length skirt I'd consider going and trying to get in. But since I have neither of those things nor the restraint to keep from throwing things, I'll stay home and sulk about them having a conference in my state each year.

New post is up: the clan are on their way on the bus. Including the scintillating 'word on sweatshirts'- it's cold with AC and so sometimes they wear jumpers. Hold me fucking back. [emoji19]

You know, I saw that pic of Mary and noticed she was wearing a sweatshirt and was so curious as to why. She was cold! Wow, never would have thought of that and that it was the AC they were running in the RV that was causing it. Who knew AC had such an effect!!

Glad she provided this tidbit too:

Inside, some are resting, some are working, and one is driving.

That surprised me. I thought Jesus took the wheel. Learn something new everyday!

Why does she always feel the need to explain the obvious? People wear sweatshirts when their cold?! :pink-shock: color me suprised.

I like the candid pics of the littles. It's a nice break from the canned poses we always see.

And why does she think anyone would be interested in why there were wearing sweatshirts??

They kind of are kind of like the Kardashians of the fundie world, thinking that everyone cares about the minutia of their life when in reality they don't.

An acute case of Special Snowflake Syndrome! They're God's favorites, ya know.

It seems like a bad idea to name a vehicle that the depend on after someone who died of sabotage, no?

Well, if you read the bible, Uriah was FAITHFUL. I'm sure that's what they were going for...

If it's so cold they're wearing sweaters, why don't they just.... Novel concept I know... Turn the AC OFF for a while?

That's what we do; run the AC till it's freezing (because grandmas only has 2 temperatures: freezing and off) and then turn it off till it gets too hit again.

She was raised by people who write books on how and why to schedule every minute of your child's day and how to control your child's thoughts. She does not realize people can actually think for themselves. Remember how amazed she was when Teri came to the conclusion that the bike riders they saw were in a race. I really don't believe Sarah could have figured that out for herself.
