Cross examination? Only a Son of a Botkin could make getting to know one's prospective life partner sound like a criminal proceeding.

I had a mental image of someone shining a bright light in his eyes, saying "Where were you on the night of . . . ?"

Well, knowing the Bots, I'm sure "cross-examination" is actually a perfect way to describe it. In order to marry into that family, you have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are 1000% "pure" and that you will always obey GBot/BBot without question. Sounds worse than a criminal trial.
