I have never been attracted by the sight of a man. Never. And no, you maynot look at the pictures in my nook.

The cigarette turns me right off, I'd walk right on by.

Agreed. The stench and taste of the cigarette negates everything else that is appealing.

Yep, burquas for everyone!

Seriously, what IS "okay" to wear? It's all the wimminz fault and menz are just helpless to the whims of their dicks. Whatever.

Nope, men will still stare and have sexy thoughts at the sight of a women in the marketplace dressed in a burka.

Yes, this.

I am about to go out to an ebil commie meeting and am wearing a Dead Kennedys shirt and a pair of battered jeans, both of which I slept in, because I'm homeless and lazy. I embody the sexxxay. Or maybe not.

What are these people asking of women? That they exist to satisfy men but not at the same time?

I hate smoking. I have never done it. It has been responsible for early deaths in my family. Aaaaaaand, there are few things that I find more appealing than a scantily clad male body smoking a cigarette. I love kissing a man who has the taste of tabacco on him.

Don't judge. :naughty: I already know I'm a freak.

It all boils down to power and control and using religion as an excuse. It's as simple as that.

And further, as soon as you bend over, or sit or squat, those "modest slacks" of yours will be stretched just as tightly, over parts of your form, as the skin-tight slacks which other women wear. So unless you are so thin that you have no form with which to attract a man, or so fat that your form will only disgust him (and you are no competent judge of this), you had best leave slacks alone. Though you may not be able to understand it (for the sight of a man will probably not affect you in the same way), it is the sight of the form which will arouse a man's passions. What a man's touch is to a woman, the sight of a woman is to a man.

Since I'm underweight does that mean I could go around naked? Would that be safe among those manly fundie-men? I mean, I probably have no form with which to attract a man anyway, so why do I need to cover up?

I don't think this story is a rarity (I would imagine something similar has happened many times before within the 'modesty movement'): http://www.patheos.com/blogs/nolongerqu ... de-me-fat/

Random quote: "Rich cultures value thin women, and poor cultures fat women, but all male-dominant cultures value weakness in women." —Gloria Steinem

Good question, I actually had the same one regarding my boobs. Since I only really need a bra to give my girls some moral support, isn't it safe for a man to look upon my bossom?

For fuck's sake. I just read all of the post. Good luck sleeping tonight.

Bathsheba didn't sin. She didn't know David was looking at her as she went through traditional purification rituals, any more than a young girl knows a man's looking at her after she changes after gym class and he'd bored a hole in the wall.

The first thing which must be understood is that nakedness before the eyes of others is wrong. It is wrong in a man, and it is wrong in a woman. When Adam and Eve sinned, God made "coats of skins, and clothed them." The sole reason for his clothing them was to cover their nakedness, as the Genesis account makes plain. Observe, he clothed them with coats. They were already wearing aprons, which probably covered as much as, or more than, much of the clothing which is worn today, yet in spite of their aprons they were still naked in their own eyes and in God's. And God did not clothe them with shorts, or swimming suits, or tank tops, or halter tops, or anything of the sort—nor with jackets, either, but with coats, long coats, or robes as the word might properly be translated. Observe further, he clothed them with coats. He did not clothe Eve with a coat, and Adam with a pair of shorts. He clothed them both with coats—whence we may assuredly gather that nakedness is just as wrong in a man as it is in a woman.

That is a translation from rather dated English. In other words you made a translation error.

Also, Genesis says nothing of the sort. It's *knowing* wrongness which is the point here. It's the fact of being naked which worried Eve and Adam, they didn't know beforehand it was wrong, because it wasn't.

I have a feeling the website from which said article comes from is Poe.

It must be Poe, right? Please tell me it's not real...

It's for real and has been around for years.

The article is originally from Patriarch Magazine, which went under a few years ago.

So it is for real then...Damn!

Thanks for the heads-up.

I wonder who's the "lucky one" (ahum!) who has the misfortune of being married to the author...

WHAT THE WHAT??? Where in Genesis does it say a word about aprons? This is complete nonsense and in no Bible I've ever seen.

So, according to the above boldedness, we learn that the bible says that we are to wear no clothing at all except coats. Nice to know, for those of us who live in the Northern areas, not so nice for those poor people in warmer climates.

Mr. mkitten is always pissed off when I tell him about articles like this; his take on it is that it wasn't his dick that earned a PhD; and it certainly doesn't control the majority of his thoughts and actions. FFS, religious fundies are soooo sexually obsessed. I wonder what the world would be like if they threw all of that energy into actually doing things that were worthwhile from a social standpoint, like feeding and clothing the poor? Just like how many licks it takes to get the the center of a Tootsie-Roll lolly pop, the world may never know.

Didn't we already discuss this article? I'm certain we have. This site used to have the Pearls' book To Train Up A Child on their website that has since been removed after the last death related to the book. I'm certain the last time we discussed this I stated that God did not get angry with Bathsheba at all so why are fundies? He did not speak to her, tell her she was wrong or anything. Even the loss of the pregnancy was associated with David's sin, not hers. Bathsheba was never blamed to be at fault. The fault lay with David and part of that passage is the fact that David learns what he did was wrong and repented for his sins and he had committed a number of them. It was all about David's sins, not hers.

Another thing about modesty: replace that word with 'my personal standards of how a woman should dress' and it reveals the modesty movement for what it is: a joke.

If their men weren't so sexually repressed from such an early age, they wouldn't be aroused by the sight of two unbuttoned buttons. This whole article is hilarious to me because my boyfriend's a photographer. He takes pictures of models, with model forms, in swimsuits, lacy lingerie, tight dresses, etc. Often in his studio. Sometimes alone. He's a healthy, sexually liberated adult, and I'd imagine this would be quite difficult for him to do if he got a boner during every shoot. The reason he doesn't is because he appreciates the female body from an aesthetic perspective, but is secure in the notion that he can get some anytime he wants, and when he can't, there's always the world wide web of pornography at his disposal. If they just let their men have normal healthy sex lives, all would be well with the world...
