Skyfall!

So I didn't see any threads about the new Bond movie, and having seen it on Friday, I wanted to post something about how completely fantastic it was. Really, really excellent all around. I don't want to spoil anyone, so I won't comment on the plot, but by the end, I was trying to decide whether I liked it better than Casino Royale. I enjoyed the Bond movies enough, but I was never a very die-hard fan until Daniel Craig came along, and his Bond has totally won me over.

Anyway, if anyone is thinking about seeing it, I highly recommend it. The whole cast is just great.

The friend I went with to see it had never seen a James Bond movie in its entirety(!). I made her watch Casino Royale on Thursday before we went and saw Skyfall, and she enjoyed it. She loved Skyfall- says she wants to see all of the Bond movies now. I warned her that she may want to give a few of them a miss (I'm looking at you, Timothy Dalton and last two Pierce Brosnan films!).

Personally, my biggest gripe with the movie was that you would never, ever have that much space and privacy to chase bad guys around Shanghai. Not in a million years. In reality, it would be this tall, blond guy fighting his way through mobs of Chinese people who are staring at him and talking amongst themselves about crazy foreigners. Also, seeing a Bond movie really makes me want to get in a car and drive somewhere really fast. Heh.

The Sam Mendes / Daniel Craig combo was brilliant. I loved it. And Javier Bardem was so fabilussly evil.

Did y'all notice the slight music change when he and M drove off in Connery's original Aston? God, I love sam mendes movies.

Javier Bardem freaked me right the fuck out. Creepy in the extreme.

And yeah, the direction was brilliant. There were so many great touches and references to the Bonds of ages past without being silly and over the top about it- I thought it hit a really good balance between being its own movie and paying homage to the Bond franchise and the 50-year anniversary and everything. Honestly, I would go and see it again right now.

Headship and I have a 2/1 voucher and are saving it for a date night (first since blessing arrived 10 months ago!). Skyfall comes out here end of the month so we're on like Donkey Kong bitches! I love me some Javier Bardem and Daniel Craig.

Well the big day has arrived. We were unable to go as I was in hospital when it came out and convalescing a good while after.

BUT tonight is the night. Blu-Ray Skyfall has arrived. Granted a 42 inch screen is not the cinema, but my nachos will be better than the Odeon's plus I can hide on the other side of my kid on the sofa so my chap does not see me drooling over Mr Craig :D

Quite excited!

I'm not a huge James Bond fan so I spent the whole time annoying my husband by saying things like "I think they are trying to cover up plot holes by blowing stuff up."

My husband brought it and Brave home from Walmart the other day. We watched Brave last night with kiddoes -we all loved it btw- and are planning to watch Skyfall this weekend. He already knows I fancy Daniel Craig. As long as I don't sigh longingly or drool he's cool with my eye candy.

I really, really disliked Javier Bardem in this, he was like a hammy am dram villain. He's a great actor usually, but here...nah.

On the upside, the bond girls, such as they were, were much less annoying than usual, and Judi Dench kicked ass.

Saw this on a second date with a guy who's currently in med school. He talked through the entire damn thing about how physiologically impossible all the stunts/injuries were.

Needless to say, Date 3 never materialized.

So did you watch it OTBT? What did you think?

Here is the honest trailer for it. It made me laugh.
