crime in India is seldom dealt with and there is so much incompetency and corruption it is amazing. so much child prostitution and abuse and death it is very scary.

My parents immigrated to Canada in the 60's. The biggest reason they came here was: they realized that if they had a daughter - she would face millennias of misogyny in India. This is why they say they were wiling to put up with giving up their whole lives, their professions (in Canada - the only jobs they could get for a long time were menial labour jobs), their identify (my dad was not even called by his real name by his colleagues - "too hard to pronounce"). I think India is improving - especially since there are so many more educated women but they still (as do we) have a long way to go.
