It is like a repeat of the nightline special, but has new footage. I'm confused

This is listed tonight as a 2 hour 20/20. First hour Bates 2nd half something else

I guess ABC didn't want to shoot a lot of new footage

It shows as being on 20/20 here. Its got old footage with new updates. She said at the beginning a new reality show for them was starting next week and they had a new baby since her visit.

Not sure how they're going to fill a whole hour, but it's listed as a repeat from 2011, so it's probably stuff we've seen before from their special and appearances on 19K&C. I do wonder if they'll cut the segment with Zach and Sarah Reith, or if they don't, will they splice in a voice-over to tell the viewers that they broke up?

They broke up? When? I sure have not been here a while.

They are so fake with the Duggars- Anyone else see that?

They showed Zack asking Sarah to court. No voice-overs or anything with an update (so far).

No WAY! I'm on the west coast so y'all are my eyes and ears for this BS. I wonder if they'll wrap it with an update on Zach and Sarah.

homeschoolmama, Kelly just posted about the breakup about a month ago, but said they'd broken if off a few months prior and was posting now to give Zach time to "heal" (implying he'd given away pieces of his heart). She totally threw Sarah under the bus, basically blaming HER for the breakup when we all know that in the Patriarchy, it was her FATHER who called it off. As well he should; Joe Maxwell is far more ready to marry than Zach Bates and they're the same age. They both work for Daddy, but Joe has an offshoot venture bringing in cash to unsuspecting fundies who can't learn anything from a secular teacher. Zach works for Daddy and since their money is pooled and they STILL can't feed the family (and Zach had to borrow from the Bank of Lawson to buy a car about a year ago), and has no house of his own that we know of (although there is a small house-like structure that can be seen in a hollow behind the Bateses' house).

Sarah's dad made the right call there. Even with a TV show, she'd be marrying down in the world, and break up the family ministry.

Well, the show should be over in the eastern and central time zones by now. Did they give any updates about the non-couple?

I watched the Bates 20/20 and was about to make a thread about this.

Anyways, I can't help but think of several scenes in this special.

*Gil haggling for a lower price for a hotel room. Are you allowed to do that?

*When she was asked how she could possibly spend one on one time with all her kids, Kelly ( is that her name? ) said that she homeschools her kids and stays home all day. Um...that kinda isn't answering the question. You have to teach all the kids at once. That isn't spending one on one time with each kid.

*The interviewer saying to the parents that not having the girls participate in the obstacle course and such the boys can do is kinda sexist. I don't remember what the Bates's answer was for that.

*The song about the joys of housework at the homeschooler's conference. That made me laugh.

*The Bates reuniting with the Duggars. I laughed when I saw the cameras. I was like "Of course there are cameras".

*How in 10 hours they hadn't even gotten out of Tennessee. My family has driven to Florida several times. In ten hours, we made plenty of milleage. We even went through Tennessee one time and it didn't take us that long to get out of there.

*The Bates aren't on wellfare, but they are quite happy with the eldest son paying for the groceries.

When it comes to hotel room rates depending on different policies, circumstances etc you can sometimes ask for a lower price. My uncle died in January. There is hotel/casino resort near my aunt's house. My cousin called the hotel and was able to get rooms at lower rate for relatives attending the funeral. But with Gil, I can see him using dumb excuses to get a lower rate at the hotel.

It was mentioned up thread that Gil paid $43 a night for a room, am I mistaken when I think this was in NYC? What kind of a room do you get for $43 in NYC?
