Wanna help me school some silly fundie girls on "obamacare"?

I want to leave her a comment but I don't even know where to begin. Maybe you can help me. Be sure to read the comments section for more ignorance on the topic.

I guess I could first point out that what happened yesterday wasn't "congressional" at all. (I wonder if she speaks in such haughty victorian language at all times? I'm sure she does.) Then I could tell her and her girlfriends that they can come out of the depths at any time, because it will probably not affect them in any way. Maybe I could finish by telling them to get a mind of their own and not just repeat all the nonsense they hear their ignorant fathers saying.

What would you say?

The ignorance on this topic is ridiculous. A fundy-lite friend on facebook posted a status saying she wants to "move to Canada to escape Obamacare."

Well... Let me tell you something about Canada...

Ugh. Point out to the moron that said "who puts there [sic] name on something like that!!!!!eleventy" that it's the right that oh-so-affectionately nicknamed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

It also appears that your fundie friend is a 19-year-old SAHD. Someone should probably tell her that if she's on her parents' insurance, it's thanks to OBAMACARE!!!!!ELEVENTY

I would start simply by explaining to her that the SCOTUS is not Congress and then ask her if she knows what checks and balances are. Some would call it baiting, for the purposes of your posting I would merely consider it opening a dialog 8-)

I'd point out the history of "obamacare" (along with it's actual name) to the girl who used the wrong form of "their" and a million !!!

(i.e. RomneyCare)

I'd also like them to start saying why they think it's bad.

"When my father told me the news just yesterday afternoon — I was out of the house for the morning — it was like someone had shoved me into an icy pool. "

An icy pool! It's Obamacare, she didn't walk in on a murder.

But it's socialism and socialism is evil. I'm pretty sure that's all the 'anti' folks see with Obamacare. They seem to have no real concept of how it works, or how they'll actually benefit from it. It's like teenagers who hate something just because it's cool to.

That's what I would have said if anyone on Facebook mentioned moving to Canada.

Another thing to point out is that we already pay for healthcare for other people and not always through medicad/medical/medicare. Anytime someone who doesn't qualify for one of those programs walks into the emergency room of a non-profit hospital, the American tax payer picks up the bill. I know that I would rather my tax dollars go to the 5 year old with asthma that is uninsured than the frequent flyer drug addict that is in the emergency room every single week due to complications from their addiction.

The government says I need to wear a seatbelt when I'm in a car, either as the driver or a passenger. If I get pulled over and I'm not wearing a seatbelt, I have to pay a fine in the form of a ticket. The government insists on seatbelts because they can help save lives in the event of an accident, so it's for my own good.

It's like that.

And the Constitution doesn't mention anything about seatbelts, yet nobody screams about how unconstitutional they are.

Oh teabaggers still whine about seat belts and the nanny government. I just refuse to listen to their crap.

Quoted for truth.

Also, when people declare bankruptcy due to medical expenses they can't pay, we indirectly pick up the tab.

Although honestly I am just as happy to pay for health care for an addict as I am for a kid with asthma. I would just like the whole system to be more efficient and equitable about providing that care.

"Yes, but you can CHOOSE to ride in/drive a car" is the argument I hear about this and car insurance.

It bothers me SO MUCH to see these so-called Christians whine about Obamacare. It's a whole lot more Christian than denying a child with asthma treatment because of something they can't even help.

Aren't these the same sort of people who demonize the Canadian health care system because it's socialized? Really, people cannot be that dumb and still be able to coordinate their breathing.

Look at it this way. If they came to Canada, they would see the poor people getting health care, and the multicultural neighbourhoods, and same-sex couples being happily married and have a severe apoplexy. Then no one has to worry about where they will go.

 Bahahaha! I think I'm going to steal that line, if you don't mind.

And, yeah, please don't encourage them to come to Canada. We don't need any more close-minded idiots. We've already got The Harper Government .

And I still contend these people would not survive Canada. Stephen Harper is an evil liburl satanist in their minds!

Which is ironic, considering that a great deal of Canadians thing he's a conservative asshole that should be shipped down to the States because we hate him so much.
