Limbaugh Calls Sandra Fluke A Slut

Maybe apple doesn't know who Rush is

Rush is not running for office. Thank goodness. He is an American radio personality who is known for saying stupid things. The term feminazis originated with him. If I am not mistaken, he has also made racist comments.

As far as the sponsors, I used to listen to a lot of talk radio and those are the sponsors that I remember. However, I provided a link to a second list also.

Because I don't like boycotts, I think that a better way would be to write the advertisers and explain why you find Rush's comments prejudice against women. The writer can ask why the company supports someone like Limbaugh. I am trying to word such a letter myself.

I don't want to but if anyone needs confirmation, I will listen to Rush today and tomorrow. It should be easy to write down the sponsors.

edited to add more information about Rush

So sorry, too early, major brain fart here  Reading Rush and thinking Newt.  I'm embarrassed. Very embarrassed.

(I am going to blame it on political robocalling at 10 minute till midnigt - yes, real).

Off topic to the robocallers: Please stop. I know you think Ohio is important, but...

We've all had brain farts. Don't get embarrassed

I could see how you would get the two confused. They are both the same shape, age and share very similar views.

Actually, I was terrified that you would return with a link proving that Limbaugh is running.

Don't sweat it. They're practically interchangeable, except Newt doesn't have a radio show.

Thanks :)

(They both ARE scumbuckets, aren't they?)

I'm still embarrassed, though...

So Rush is against BC and calls women who use said BC "sluts", however he pops Viagra? What a fucking douchelord. It's a shame his mother didn't swallow.

From wiki:

Could it be that Rush and his wives were using the ebil BC? Married 4 fucking times and not one child? Yeah, ok. Unless he's been shooting blanks, chances are his wives used some form of BC at one point.

Wow! Who knew I could find one thing I like about Rush, the fact he did not pass on his evil thoughts or genes to another generation. Thanks for not having kids you bastard!!!!!

I was about to say the same thing. How can he manage to produce FOUR child-free marriages without birth control?

Silly feminazis, men can't be sluts :snooty: And the fact that Rush was obtaining viagra illegally is not NEARLY as important as the fact that he paid for it himself. Probably.

As a child I was forced to listen to many a rush radio show on the drive to school. Thank god we only lived 5 miles away

Is there any news about wether or not she'll sue him for slander? I know a few of the pundits on MSBC were wondering if she'd pursue it since she has such a solid case against him.

Sandra Fluke was on the Today Show this morning. She is a well spoken young lady and hope she has a bright future in politics. :-)

My daughters saw a snippet of her comments and admired her poise and self control.

Rush didn't just call her a slut, he suggested that she make a porn tape. My mind is having trouble understanding that type of assholery.

He isn't just insulting her. He is trying to embarrass all women into being silent. I wouldn't be surprised if the Republican party is using him as their mouthpiece to say hateful things

Agreed. As a person who uses bc pills because of cycles so painful I could not move for a week every month. Yes, that = 12 weeks/year and about three solid months of pain. The pill is great and lets me have a life, go to school, work, etc. Since I am a virgin still, his slut comment doesn't apply, but of course Rush is too dumb to realize that there are many women who have taken and are taking the pill for health reasons and not for sex. Even if I was having sex and taking the pill for that reason, why does he fucking care so much? Said guy I would be sleeping with is no less of a "slut" than I am. Men are never "sluts" though, only women. (dislike the word slut, but if you are calling me one for having sex, you must call the man I am sleeping with the same).

My father is a staunch Republican who sometimes listens to Rush. He heard these statements by Rush and was disgusted. Of course, my mother used birth control to only have three children. She was a fertile woman who had no problem ever conceiving, no real problems in pregnancy and almost all her labours were good. I think she had to be put on oxygen for one and delivered an almost 10lb baby naturally for her last. If she hadn't used bc, she would have probably had a dozen kids easily. My mother was only ever with one man-my father. So needless to say my father was not happy to hear Rush call all women on bc a slut, which included his wife and two daughters in that category. No recent parent wants to hear someone call their daughter (as these words are only ever applied to women) a slut or whore. No decent husband would ever be okay with someone implying their wife is a slut or whore either.

As a Pill-using virgin (it's the only thing my acne under control without irritating my skin), I think Rush is an ignorant fool. The amount of pills you take is not proportional to the amount of sex you have. And unless you have insurance, they're pricey.

The part where he talks about Fluke making a sex tape was so gross. Stop getting so caught up in others' sex lives, Rush.

He'll never stay out of other people's sex lives, as long as he has none of his own.

I don't think that the comments actually have anything to do with sex. The reason that Limbaugh made them was to give him control and power over Sandra Fluke. He wanted to demean and degrade her and all women into silence.

Rush could be the best looking, most sexually active man that has ever lived, but he would still make those comments.

Well, according to Barbara Curtis of MommyLife, Limbaugh's disgusting remarks are just fine & should be defended as a matter of First Amendment principles, if nothing else: mommylife.net/archives/2012/03/issa_asked_to_c.html

Besides, says Barbara, it's all Sandra Fluke's fault anyway:

Rush did not make a fool of Ms. Fluke - she made a fool of herself, admitting that she knew her contraception would not be covered, yet chose to go to Georgetown anyway. It's hard to comprehend birth control costing 1000/yr - and I also wonder whether Ms. Fluke and the other poor creatures she describes have iPhones, iPads, DVDs. Do they buy makeup and how much do they pay for haircuts - very expensive in DC?

My pills cost me about $30, but it's camrese, the generic of Seasonique so it averages to abotu $10/month. I don't even want to think about what it would cost me if I didn't have insurance covering it. Probably close to $300 easily, which is more than my monthly rent.

Curtis just made a fool of herself since Fluke was talking about her friend, not herself. I can say that I do not have an iphone, ipad and few DVDs. I only have cable right now because it's covered in my rent. It's not hard at all to comprehend bc being 1000/yr without insurance. Without insurance mine would be in the ballpark of 1000-1200/year easily. Thankfully it's about $120/year with insurance. I I get my hair cut once, maybe twice a year and I do buy makeup, but it's not that much at Wal-Mart and takes anywhere from a couple months to a year to use it all up, depending on whether it's pencil eyeliner or mascara or blush. $10 for blush and eyeshadow once a year does not =$10/month with insurance for bc pills for health reasons. Simply put. You can let insurance pay for my bc pills or you can let insurance pay for a much more risky and expensive surgery to remove overgrown tissues and make it so I cannot go to college or work because I will miss too much for pain. I contribute far more to society as a result of bc.

This makes no sense. Just because all my life choices don't revolve around contraception (I, too, attend a Catholic school which doesn't cover my BC, and mine is $75 a month!) doesn't make me a fool for using it in these circumstances. If I also get my hair cut, wear makeup, and have an iPhone, I'm not allowed to complain about expensive, ongoing, out-of-pocket medical costs? If Barbara's kids have to get braces, do we have a right to pass judgment on her other expenses before she is allowed to submit it for insurance coverage?

One of my FB friends just had a similar rant (paraphrased): "All these women who say they can't afford BC should just give up Starbucks, movies, and cocktail hour! Or stop having sex!" Well, I very seldom spend money on those things, and I'm married which means, according to fundies, that I'm obligated to have sex. Oh yeah. I'm supposed to just have babies right and left, too. My bad.

Anyway, my point is just that it's both irrelevant and demeaning to make these "arguments" that my academic/career/financial choices invalidate me from speaking on this subject. They should just say what they mean -- women should not be allowed to have "consequence-free" sex. At least it would be honest and sort of relevant.

Barbara Curtis - I wonder how she would feel if she were forced to pay out of pocket for all of her healthcare.

I suspect that Rush Limbaugh has been married so many times because he's abusive. In a one-on-one scenario, ANY man calling me a "whore" or a "slut" is immediately roundfiled. My ex crossed that line and called me a whore and I divorced him so fast his head spun like the little girl in the Exorcist movie. At that point I knew that he was an abuser. Namecalling is verbal abuse. It also says a lot more about the person doing the namecalling than it does about the intended target, and it tells you all you need to know about him. It tells you he's disrespectful, controlling, narrow-minded, and hateful. He also might be physically dangerous.

That said, Amanda Marcotte did a good blurb on why BC needs to be defended on sex grounds, not just health grounds. Sure BC pills are used as help for PCOS and painful periods and acne; but it's also used to prevent babies. And it needs to be defended as such. What is a slut, anyway? Is there a specific number of people that once you hit that number you're a slut? Or only doing certain acts? It's a meaningless word, with no agreed-upon definition.

If anyone is looking for an alternative to Carbonite, one of Rush's sponsors (going way back), I use Crashplan for cloud backup and it works great. One reason I selected them several years ago over Carbonite was because of the latter's sponsorship of Rush.

Interesting. We are currently using Mozy. . . [off to see if they're on the list].
