Haven't looked through them all, but spotted Rebecca in one of the firsts next to Stephen.

I agree that they look very happy and comfy with each other. Cute dress, beautiful bride! Buuuut: I totally have to snark on the pictures linked in the first post: There is one in which he is wrapping an arm around her, hand on her belly with her hand, too, which looks...uhm.. pretty unfortunate for a couple in VF-circles.

And: I am so glad that that they have chosen a talented photographer and not the guy that shot poor Beth's wedding.

And that photographer would've been...Peter Serven? ;) Srsly, I'm asking. I know he did Rebecca's, but I'm not sure about Beth's.

No. She had a woman from Texas, a professional photographer. Her name is mentioned somewhere in the blog post with photos, I'm too lazy to go look.

OK, I looked, Jessica Shae. It's her blog linked in the first post in this thread. She has other wedding photos she's done and she doesn't have the limitations that Peter Serven does.

They're in Colorado. Everything out there has a 'rustic' look. My first thought was the reception was at an airline hangar or something like that.

And, they had dancing at their reception! It actually resembled most weddings I've been to. I've never been to a fundie wedding.

I don't doubt their lives will be just as fundie as all the other fundie weddings. At least the bride got a decent wedding celebration out of it. I wonder about the connection between the families. If her family hosted the wedding, as most (traditional) bride's families do, they may have less oppressive rules for the women. Not that it will help her since she married into a poster-family for fundie life, but it could be how the wedding & reception were more mainstream, at least in appearance.

Its branding for the lifestyle. And its working!! Folks are thrilled the bride got a party and a pretty dress, even though she has no autonomy over her own body and will be under the umbrella of her headship until he dies. Then she'll be traded like a piece of live stock to a brother or another headship. I wonder is KISA got an invite.

Its a fashionable stock auction is all.

I don't know. Commenting on what is noticed - that the wedding looked nice and classy and/or whatever - isn't buying into what they're selling. We comment on the weddings that scream fundie, I don't think taking notice means falling into it. Folks can be thrilled she got her party & dress, mostly because, for those here at least, it's probably the last time 'she'll' actually get anything worth mentioning in a positive light.

I see it much as I see the discussions that go on for pages & pages about whether or not it is 'right' to comment on someone's looks. That discussion only goes on like that when the comments are negative. When people say the men 'defraud' them or they call someone pretty, they are commenting on looks just as those who say someone is unattractive or ugly or whatever. I don't get the differentiation, other than it being a personal issue for some. So it's bad to say someone is fat or ugly, but it's all good to say someone is defrauding or pretty. It's ok to talk a fundie wedding to death when it's being picked apart but not when it's an appealing one.

Decorations are a dog's breakfast, if you ask me.

Said this before, the men should be wearing ties.

They would look less like Eliot Ness bad guys if they wore ties, or as if they'd all just tumbled out of some locker room somewhere.

Look at the man (I assume Father of Bride) in green tie dancing with the bride. Now, that's how it's done.

I declare, some members of the wedding party are beyond defrauding and I would say downright yammy :o

Ah, thanks, Nurse Nell! FWIW, I remember somewhere that the bride's mom died, I'm not sure how long ago. Lends a bittersweet quality to the wedding, eh? I've never seen yard lights used to illuminate a reception hall/gymnasium. Pretty neat.

The groomsman who walked down the aisle with the Serven girl? Bow chicka wow wow!!! John Moore who, again????? ;) I just hope he's an egalitarian. I hate when a really good-lookin' fella has Bad Theology.

ZOMG I see dancing!!! I don't follow every fundie fam, but which sect are these guys in that allows them to get jiggy with it... it doesn't look like all classical music either, but who knows... hmmm...

Interesting. For some reason I was pretty sure that our fav. Maxwell did some shots of her wedding, but it is not in his galleries...ok, then I didn't remember it correctly.

I think someone has to tell those fundies that putting your hands in your pockets while in a tux/professional gear is NOT sexy, professional/manly.

 Right, that's John Moore....I hate when I realize I've written so that my antecedents are unclear. How I meant to phrase that was, "Bow chicka, etc., I've forgotten all about that way-too-skinny John Moore, having seen Servengirl's rather buff escort at the wedding, and I hope Servengirl's rather buff escort at the wedding is an egalitarian."

I really shouldn't post in a hurry. Heh. But that guy with Miss Serven is some definite handsome fella. Makes my cold old heart go, "If I were 30 years younger...."

Edited for clarity. ;)

Glad to see someone actually sprung for a nice photographer, and the other trappings of having a wedding.

I do like that they're actually allowed to have fun in the wedding pictures... maybe they'll end up breaking away some.
