Just wondering but wouldn't they qualify for unexmployment? I once worked for a company that had a fire, it wasn't a special job I made barely above minimum wage and many of us qualified for unemployment during the the time that it was under repairs.

Just out of curiousity (I'm in NY) I googled Florida unemployment:

Florida calculates your benefits by dividing your total earnings for the highest-paid quarter by 26. You can earn up to $275 a week. Benefits were previously available for 23 weeks, but new claimants who filed after Jan. 1, 2015, are only eligible for 14 weeks of benefits, according to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

@OyToTheVeyFair enough. I would feel bad for the employees because they shouldn't be responsible for him. I'm just sick of him using the tax payers to fly him back and forth so often. If he wanted to spend a ton of time there he shouldn't have run for President.

a lot of the comments say that Erin is being insensitive with this remark, and I agree. When Brooklyn was in the hospital, and she was feeling down, would she like someone to tell her, "Life is too short to be anything but happy!"

It's great you are happy now, Erin, but people have problems and trite sayings don't shame them into happiness.

And there's nothing wrong with being unhappy from time to time. It's completely normal. Being happy all the time is not possible.

Honestly? I think the criticism is a bit ridiculous. She's suffered the loss of three very wanted pregnancies, dealt with at least one high risk pregnancy (that ended with a very traumatic birth), and she's currently witnessing her older sister go through her own reproductive struggle. I'm pretty sure she's well aware that other people may have problems too. Especially since many people have commented on her posts to share their own problems with her after she so publicly spoke about her miscarriages. From what I've seen she's been nothing but kind, supportive, and polite to those people.

@HiseyI'd buy your "Brooklyn in hospital" argument if Erin had specifically directed this at someone going through a tough time. But she didn't. She posted it with that beautiful photo Katie took of her with her children. To me, that clearly indicates that she's speaking specifically about herself and not anyone else.

I agree that she seems like a kind, supportive and polite person. I'm sure she is aware that others have problems. I do think she has had rather a charmed life (I'm aware she had a brief period of infertility, followed by difficult pregnancies and miscarriages). Because of that, she probably isn't as thoughtful as she could be.

I think that making a comment like that isn't mean or anything, but it is thoughtless. I doubt she'd have liked someone to say that to her during a time of trouble, yet she was doing the same to others. It doesn't really matter whether she was directing the comment to herself (how do you do that anyway?) or to others, it's just thoughtless. You never know what others are going through.

Parent with a brain tumor? Life is too SHORT not to be HAPPY!

@Hisey

Again, I think people are reading too much into it. She never addressed anyone else in that post. In fact, she specifically referred to herself in the second sentence. Which is another indication to me that she was strictly speaking about or for herself only - and by that, I mean maybe she saw this photo and it simply reminded her she personally has a lot to be happy for.

I'm a big critic of this family. I'm usually one of the first people here to call them out for being hypocrites or assholes. But I'm just not seeing a reason to this time. It's not her responsibility to consider every single way something innocent that she wrote on social media could offend or upset someone else. If she upsets someone and feels moved to apologize, that's her choice and I'm all for that. But I don't think she should feel obligated to do so.

And you don't need to qualify her reproductive experiences by saying it was "brief" because it doesn't matter how long she did or did not struggle to sustain a pregnancy. The fact she suffered matters. How long she did does not. Suffering even one miscarriage sucks and can be a ridiculously painful experience to go through.

All that said, I'm totally on board if anyone wants to bring up how being happy all the time is one of their creepy ass beliefs.

Complete speculation, of course, but I think Cherin will be the next pregnant Bates couple. A+J have one under a year and Alyssa looks tiny (though she always does), B+M are clearly struggling, Z+W is possible, but with Whit's new job I'm thinking she'll want to avoid a first trimester (if that's hard for her) at least at first to get her career off the ground. And, I suspect someone will be pregnant by Tori's wedding. Erin hasn't posted a full body photo (where you could see her stomach) since the fourth of July

I have a feeling it is Erin and Chad too. As long as Erin's medicines are working (and they seem to do their job) and they are OK with another child it will not upset me either. I hope for a longer space because I do think there will be more kids for them but I am not hopeful that will happen. Witney and Zack feels like the least likely and Alyssa seems less likely too. I think that Alyssa will have just 1-2 kids more if the next one is a boy, I think she is the kind who would be very interested in having one of each for some reason but not be at all bothered by more girls than boys. Michael and Brandon I would be glad for if they announced a pregnancy but it does seem like they have some severe problems. I hope they are still able to make this time without children about growth, growth of spirit and growing as a person, in that case it might have positive effects in the longer run. I do hope they will have one kid. Think about it, being a single child in a family with all those big families (because even if I don't think any of the kids married now will compete with Gil and Kelly, I think they will have larger families than average). I think that is a pretty good deal, having tons of cousins but being adored by your parents as a miracle. You get the best of both worlds.

As someone who has had severe depression to the point I was suicidal, I don't have a problem with Erin's posts. I'm not into the 'cheesy quotes' and 'pinterest inspiration porn' and find it a bit cringeworthy, but acknowledge that everyone is different and some people like that stuff.

I would have a problem if Erin was outright telling someone who had expressed they were feeling depressed "life is too short to be anything but happy, get over it", or even wrote something like "I don't get people with depressed, they need to realise that life is too short not to choose to be happy". But she didn't. All she has done is use it as a caption for a picture her sister took of her and her kids. If anyone has a problem with it, it is because they are taking it personally and projecting a different meaning onto the post than what she intended.

I view her post as her simply speaking for herself, not telling anyone else to 'get over it' or condescend anyone.

Of course, it doesn't help when you feel like crap and depressed and like nothing is going right.....and it feels like everyone else on social media is posting about how wonderful their lives are, but 'social media image crafting' and 'comparing your behind the scenes to everyone else's highlight reel' is a related, but different topic IMO.

Her own father is hardly a good example either. He's never home, he quit a good paying job that could have supported their family, and he doesn't parent either.

I'm guessing Cherin and Zachney will both have 4 kids. They have "one of each" right now so if that's what they were going for, they already have that.

Chad and Erin are my pet fundies so I'm a little biased, but I think it was devastating for Chad to both experience and watch Erin experience miscarriages, and still hard for him to see her have daily shots during pregnancies and some scary labors. I think they are trying NFP or just "not feeling like it that day" and Brooklyn was essentially an accident/wayyy sooner than they were hoping for. Chad look genuinely terrified announcing that pregnancy. That being said, Erin and Chad seem to be LOVING their parenting season of life and I think Erin will push for a few more.

Whitney is loving being a mom too, but also her new social standing. She's having some fun and looking damn good. I think she is fundie light on the inside (I think you can vote for Trump and not be full on fundie, as terrible as he is) and will have more children because she wants to, without feeling called to filled God's quiver.

I think Tori could have a larger gaggle of kids. Carlin is more outwardly attention-seeking and fun-loving, and children might cramp her style enough to stop at like 5 kids max. But Tori already changed her mind about wedding date against previous convictions, went to Crown "to homeschool her children" in the eyes of Gil, and seems more like Erin- the traditional, quieter, "nurturing" fundie lass. If there are no medical problems I could see Tori and Bobby having 8-10.

I think that if Erin keeps having successful pregnancies, she will have a large family. I honestly don't think she will stop until her health or a baby's health is in jeopardy.

I think Alyssa will have 5 or 6 kids. But she will spread the last few out.

Whitney grew up mainstream and we already see her going back to mainstream clothing and enjoying a job outside the house. So they could end up like John and Alyssa. 5-6 kids but spread out.

I just hope for Michael to at least have ONE! I dealt with infertility and just having one kid helped with the pain of infertility. It will still hurt because she will want a sibling for her child, but at least she has one to mother.

Tori and Bobby could have a lot. She seems like she could handle a big family.

So people are not allowed to express happiness with their own life because others may be going through difficult times? Life is short, happiness is the outcome we seek despite our problems. Life is not perfect for most of us but its ok (in fact more than ok) to be happy with what you have and grateful for your blessings. How much more politically correct do we have to be? This shit (internet in general, not just fj) is getting old fast. Cant ask a simple question without being jumped on. Cant post a sweet pic with your kids without being accused of being thoughtless. CANT BE SEEN TO BE HAPPY BECAUSE OTHERS MAY BE SUFFERING. You seriously could post a picture of a unicorn with bunny ears that farts rainbows and someone would still take issue with it because it does not suit their view of the world. Its exhausting!

I also wonder if that is Alyssa shade, or if she is just sick of people accusing her of doing ads when someone asks her a makeup brand and she gives an honest answer. That would piss me off too.

As for me, I wish there were an Facebook App to block the  endless Rodan +Fields hawking of multiple friends of mine!

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

      Hello,

I'm brand new to this forum. It was suggested to me by former and outspoken Remnant Fellowship member (Natasha Pavlovich) that I join this forum and put out here what I do. She also warned me that no one on here trusts, or trusts easily, and that I'd likely be assumed to be a Remnant plant or spy until vetted and verified as not that. Fair enough.
In short, and in truth, I'm a psychotherapist with 25 yrs experience in Franklin TN (less than three miles from RF incidentally) with a special interest in working with people formerly associated with cults, cult-like or any and all high control intitutions. I'm especially interested in working with those desiring not only deconstruct, recover and learn to thrive post-indoctrination, but those desiring to recapture or cultivate an authentic sense of theology without walls, or spirituality with borders.
To date, I've worked with former Amish, Mennonite, LDS/FLDS, FOG, and a those representing a whole slew of evangelical, fire and brimstone fear/shame/guilt-inducing institutions.
I am especially interested in working with former Remnant Fellowship and Scientology members. I view RF as basically Scientology without the budget.
I'll leave it there. Much more can be gleaned about me through my website: therapyoutsidethebox.com or IG: @ therapyoutsidethebox
