Mrs. Pat Robertson must feel thrilled/Alzheimer's (MERGED)

When a spouse has Alzheimer's disease, specialists agree that they need all the adoring assistance they can get. However, as Rev. Pat Robertson told “700 Club†viewers last Tuesday, separating from a partner with Alzheimer's is sensible (Pat Robertson says divorcing Alzheimer’s patient is OK). He went on to convey he wouldn't “put a guilt trip†on the non-Alzheimer's spouse, since the disease is “a type of deathâ€. Oh, this is hard. Sometimes a spouse is the only person the Alzheimer person will recognize.

I think kicking your spouse to the curb when they are ill so you can get some booty is dreadful. Much to me depends on the reasons and what the caregiver is trying to salvage, even if it is just their own sanity. My friend struggles to care for her 97 year old mother, her grade school age daughter and earn a living all at once. Her mother lives with her and is destitute so the responsibility is even greater.

It's interesting to me that Pat Robertson thinks its okay for a man to divorce his wife with Alzheimers so he won't commit adultery in order to satisfy his sexual needs; but he's firmly against stem cell research to try to get some kind of fix on this terrible disease.

I'm not a great fan of the Regans but you gotta give props to Nancy. I know she had help, but apparently she was not only Ronald Regan's main caregiver, she was an advocate for all caregivers when she led the campaign for stem cell research to help find a cure for those afflicted with dementia/Alzheimers.

The Force Birthers always worshipped Regan, but Nancy said once "I can't stand those prolifers". I always found Nancy rather cold, but she was his fiercest advocate, and remains so. I pity the fool that tries to tell her stem cell research is immoral.
