In the preview it sounded like they said that they shared a bedroom and Cody seems appaled and judgy (gasp) about it. Of course it could all be funky editing and be a snoozefest.

Considering it's Sister Wives, my money is on the latter.

From what little I could tell about them from the promos, they came to polygamy for secular reasons, not religious or biblical reasons. It’s not certain if there’s a headship/patriarchy thing going on or some secular more equal poly arrangement that either they or TLC are using their faith to deflect “immorality†accusations, especially if they are sharing a bed (probably not, SW wouldn't be that interesting).

I just read several reports that Brady Williams of My Five Wives has just filed for bankruptcy. He owes $400,000 and has very few assets. Now the reality of having so many dependents comes into sharp relief. Kody and family should be very afraid. Maintaining their lifestyle just does not seem to be tenable. One of these days they are going to fall and fall hard.

If they all worked regular jobs, it might work. But that's not what they do, which is really dumb.

I caught that the family name is Richards and they live near Springfield, Missouri. Didn't find a family website or anything with just a quick Google. Maybe someone with better Google skills can find something?

And used birth control. Since very few monogamous families can afford four or five children in a comfortable lifestyle. When you have five wives with a total of 24 children even with everyone working that's still each adult supporting four kids apiece!

Somehow people who choose "Biblical" polygamy out of the blue like that creep me out a lot more than the fundamentalist Mormons, who at least have that as part of their culture already. Of course, Joseph Smith himself would fall into the former category.

Or smaller houses and not McMansions!

So watching the episode now....they just had a faux-Jew Passover Seder. It was the most offensive thing I've seen in a very long time.

yeah, and clearly they had it set up beforehand. Kody's reply of "oh, it looks like you have a Passover Seder"??

HaHaHa!! They are eating at that same restaurant the Maxwells eat at while traveling. The one with the throwen rolls.

A few people called him out on it on Twitter, and now he's saying he had no idea it was offensive because he grew up in Wyoming.

"An apology to my "Jewish" friends & followers. A ranch kid from WY w/out the education/experience/understanding of culture & social nuances."

At least he apologized. Not sure why he put "Jewish" in quotes like that. His Hebrew was atrocious and the whole thing was just totally inappropriate. It just bugs me because on a previous episode they threw a Chanukah party when they decided that it wasn't ok to celebrate Joseph Smith's birthday anymore. So they decided they needed another fun winter holiday and that they could celebrate Chanukah. I just don't get it.

I also had no idea how many leg-humpers the Browns had until I read his twitter feed!

So I watched it last night, and the Richard family surprised me in a good way. Yes, it does seem kind of strange that people who weren't raised in a culture of ''polygamy'' choose this lifestyle, but from what I saw of them, they seem to be a bit more live-and-let-live. During the conversation about bedroom-sharing, it was kind of funny to see the Brown's shocked faces. They are the ones going around every platform, saying they want to be respected for their lifestyle, but they get judgmental of other people's choices. Typical...

Funnily enough, one of the wives (can't remember her name) in the Richard family seemed to find the Brown's reaction quite amusing too. I was glad that she just seemed to say: ''Hey, so what if you sleep in the same bed? Whatever makes it work in your family, I can't judge.''

Is there an easy way to view this episode? I don't watch Sister Wives regularly, but this sounds interesting to me.

One site gives his assets including real estate holdings of under $10,000, but they have a duplex and a triplex and he owns a business.I suspect they are "restructuring" like the Browns did--transfer the assets to the nonlegal wives and then using bancruptcy to make the debt go away.

I didn't see this on any other threads so forgive me if someone else has mentioned it. Did anyone else watch the most recent episode of Sister Wives? The Browns drove to meet some Christian polygamists in Missouri. Basically, these were fundamentalist Christians with no connection to Mormon theology whose "call" to polygamy came from the Bible. According to the first wife, they believe there are a variety of examples of marriage in the Bible, some polygamous, some monogamous and they felt called to follow the polygamist examples. She also mentioned that they know of lots of other families of "Christian polygamists," including some where all the adults share a bedroom!! :pink-shock: :pink-shock: :pink-shock:

I've done some cursory googling but does anyone know anything else about this movement? Any blogs out there you've found etc? (It seems like they sometimes call themselves "Biblical polygamists" too, I guess to distinguish themselves from "Book of Mormon polygamists.") Anyway, if there's anyone else out there researching this group, let me know what you're finding!

I didn't see the episode so when you say share the bedroom do you mean the husband and all his wives sleep in one bed? Or that the wives rotate in and out of the husband's bed (vs how Kody rotates into the wives' beds)?

I'm kind of wondering about this whole bedroom sharing thing. Are they all sharing a bed/sexy times? A room, where they sleep separately? Is there only one marital bedroom and odd wife out sleeps on the sofa? Not enough info was divulged here!

I don't think these "spouses" share a bed. I think they know of or have heard of ones who do.

Right...they said they know some other families or have some friends who do. So then this Christian polygamy is a "thing" apparently... Hey, maybe that will get them their own show. Too bad they were so dull.
