Thank You Jesus for taking care of Kristy's prayers

Oh please is all I could think: Perhaps people don't like to park by the shopping carts because they don't want their cars to get banged up, come on, yes Kristy, I do think it's a "silly" thing....

(Kristy from Thimble Thoughts)

When God answers a prayer, we should always give him glory and praise for it. Whether it is answered the way we hope or not. Give Him thanks because He knows what's best.

I want to give Him thanks right now for something He has done and continues to do for me. It's a little thing, but special to me, none-the-less.

Many times I have asked Him for something and He has granted that request and I have taken it for granted. Later, having to ask Him to forgive me for not saying thank you. We've all done it, right? But he deserves our thanks and our praise.

I think I've shared this before but wanted to share it again, along with something that happened yesterday.

When Justin and Hannah were still car seat age, I never really cared about getting a parking place closest to the store. I always wanted one next to the buggy rack so I could load them in the car and put the buggy back without actually having to leave the car. So one day, while going grocery shopping, the parking lot was packed. I asked the Lord to please give me a parking place next to a buggy rack. He parted the Red Sea, folks, remember? As I pulled around to another lane in the parking lot, what do you know happened? A car was backing out of a space right next to the buggy rack. "Thank you, Lord!" I was happy. That was almost twenty years ago and to this day, I can go grocery shopping and always find a place next to the buggy rack. Some people may think that's a silly thing. But I think it's a God thing.

Yesterday while I was at the grocery store, while the girl was ringing up my groceries I looked outside and there were very low, BLACK clouds rolling toward home. I asked the bag boy if it was raining and he said not yet. So as I walked out to the car, with the winds beginning to blow hard, I said a simple prayer to the Lord, to please hold off the rain until I got the groceries in the car. And what do you know happened? As SOON as I picked up the last bag and placed it in the car, those first drops of rain began to fall. I put the buggy in the rack (which I was parked next to), and jumped inside the car. Pulling out of the parking lot, the clouds opened up and the buckets of rain fell hard. I just looked up and said, "Thank you, Lord. You do it every time!"

It's the little things, sometimes, that let me know He's really up there listening and caring about me and my silly requests.

Another blessing that happened yesterday was when I got home, the winds and rain were pretty fierce. There was lightening and the thunder was rolling. LOUD. So I pulled the car right up in front of the house. Hannah and Harry came down the steps with the umbrella and took turns carrying the groceries in. When they were finished I pulled the car back around to the driveway. I didn't have an umbrella so I was gonna make a run for it. But I didn't have to. My sweetheart of a son (Harry) ran down the steps to the car with an umbrella and walked me into the house. Again, I just had to thank the Lord for such a young gentleman. I'm also thankful for a husband that has set a good example to his boys on how to treat a lady.

I am blessed.

Both fundamentalism and conservative Christianity is very ego driven. Kristy thought her desire to not be slightly inconvenienced outweighed anyone else's possible desire to park close to the shopping carts.

God bends the universe and holds back the rain just for her special self. Of course, she never stops to wonder why an all powerful god would prevent her hair from getting damp but won't feed entire Christian populations in other parts of the world. All that matters is she gets her parking place and doesn't get wet.

Are people like her so lacking in self awareness that they can't see how egotistical that they sound?

This is something I don't understand. So God held off the rain, answering HER prayers, but what about the farmer down the street who prayed FOR rain so his crops would grow or the firefighters who were praying for rain to slow down a wildfire?

Disgusting, egotistical people.

This, this and this. I'm not a christian and I don't pray, but if I did it would be for things like sick babies, kids with cancer, droughts, wildfires, starving people in Africa, New Orleans ect ect ect. If there was an all knowing all seeing all powerful man in the sky who was here to watch out for the entire planet, why the hell would he be bothered with finding you a fucking parking space???? Talk about fucking arrogance.

Why didn't she ask God to stop the rain while she brought the groceries in the house?

Exactly what I was thinking. Or, why not just pray for rain only overnight, so you never have to get wet in it?

These people really believe that praise is in order for a Lord who is worried about parking spots? Dude, I'm glad I don't believe in a god who is interested in such inane bullshit.

They not only think that they are somehow the center of the universe, but they also believe their god has nothing else to do but worry about how far away from the buggies they have to park. It's ridiculous. There are children being tortured, raped, and murdered, families going hungry, and whole communities being wiped out because of natural disasters. And their god is worried about parking spots, or letting the rain hold off for an extra minute.

so with all the hunger and famine in the world, war and torture going on; God decides to control the weather and car spaces for this little upstart... *sigh* Yeah Thanks God, Thanks a lot. *eyeroll of epic proportions*

Hmm, let's think about what was going on ~20 years ago. War in the middle east, war in the balkans, colonial legacies and racial tension building up to genocide in rwanda, economic recession, Hurricane Andrew kills dozens and leaves tens of thousands homeless, etc. But after 20 years, this woman still remembers that god found her a good parking space. WTF.

Posts like this really bother me. I believe in prayer-but I don't believe that prayer works like ordering fast food. I don't think I get to tell God what I want. Especially when it a situation where someone is probably praying for the exact opposite thing like the farmer possibility mentioned above.

It's long been a pet peeve of mine when athletic teams pray for victory. I'm great with them praying. Maybe pray for no injuries, for a game that inspires both players and crowd, etc.

Eh I'll give her some grace, she just doesn't know the right prayer, which I will share with FJ.

Hail Mary full of grace please give me a parking space, right here.

When ever I find a find a shady parking space I always say a prayer of thanks to my stepfather Walt. He would drive around parking lots incessantly to find a shady spot.

This is literally the funniest thing I've read in a long time. The fact that there is a real person who truly believes an imaginary man in the sky cares deeply about her parking space preference cracks.me.up. Totally can't stop laughing at this.

I do wish she'd use the words shopping cart instead of buggy. I hate the word buggy. It just grates.

As long as it doesn't affect her personally; it's all good in her eyes. And besides; those people aren't her branch of fundamental Christianity;/Christian in general; so they need to be punished for their sins! God always makes exceptions for the white conservative fundamental patriarchal Christians; of course.

The Bible is wrong, the sun does not revolve around the Earth. And Copernicus, he's wrong too, the Earth does not revolve around the sun.

Instead, clearly, they both revolve around Kristy. Yes, it's an egocentric universe out there, we're just living in it.

I have to admit I have prayed in a Supermarket car park before. It went like this..

'Hello!'

'Dear GOD LOOK in your fucking mirror'

'Jesus..I'm the person in the big black 4x4 BEHIND you...HELLO!'

He did not listen to me :( I must be setting my car parking praying benchmark to high.

I am sure this person was trying to be all cutesy how great is GOD. But it just sounds like she needs a good healthy smack of reality. (preferably like mine the car type)

How do these people cope when their prayers are not answered..Do they believe it was God's will to take a dear one with Cancer....or a freak accident. Feckin parking spaces. Get a grip.

While I am not religious, I have definitely caught myself thinking similar, selfish thoughts: "Why God, WHY do I have to drive around for 3 infernal minutes looking for a parking space in front of my apartment? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?"

Then I snap out of it and remember that even on days I do believe in God, it is not the kind of God who cares whether or not an able-bodied young woman has to walk two blocks from her car. And that is how it should be.
