Look at all the BOOKS in Elizabeth's house (s/to be Maxwell)

New photo's are up. They have a huge bookshelf filled with BOOKS! Does this poor girl realize the Maxwells are "anti-books" unless they are the ones they've written.

Her family has a nice house/home. I love the little girls rooms with the pink quilt. I wonder if they have ever visited the Maxwell's house. Do these parents realize the kind of future life they are giving their daughter?

Gaaah, no one capable of driving the bus should be forced to sit at the children's table. If you really need to split, then mix up the families so everyone gets to meet some new people of other generations.

And yes, books = awesome. Let's hope she walks into her new home as a bride and the first thing she says is, 'we're gonna need some bookshelves!'

They don't really seem to be the same brand of fundy, less crazy than the Maxwells for sure

I really feel for this girl, her new life is going to be hard on her, I guess :(

Behind the tall boy in the middle, there are some yellow books. They look to be the same Nancy Drew hardcovers that I had.

Nancy Drew is so not Maxwell approved! I really really hope that Elizabeth can get some books into the new house.

But I'm sure it will be Bibles, Moody Books, and computer text books..

I so hope she corupts whatever Maxwell son she is marrying. They might do something wild and go to a library.

This is what I was thinking.... maybe he "likes" (haha, as if liking someone had anything to do with marrying them, I know I'm so naive) the fact that she's so librul and such.

Only in the Maxwell family would going to the library be a wild and rebellious thing to do.

I hope Elizabeth's parents intend to keep in close-ish contact with her even after the wedding. They seem like the type who might, and it would be really good for the Maxwells to be around relatively normal (for fundies) people more often.

This is what I thought when I saw the photos too. How demeaning it is to be John and Jesse, catagorised as children because their father hasn't bought them a wife yet. What does that do for a young man's selfesteem?

All these folks that believe in family integrated churches but don't believe in family integrated dining make my head spin.

I haven't got that far yet. Got sidelined by the astonishing self-centeredness of the blog post which proclaims that "Elizabeth is going to be an amazing wife for Joseph".... um, how about a little reciprocity here: is Joseph going to be an amazing wife for Elizabeth??

Over the past few days, I've glanced at some of Munck family's posts over the years and it appears they have become more hardcore over time. At this point, I think they are less hardcore than the Maxwells. I wouldn't be surprised if Elizabeth changes due to Joseph. On the books, I kind of get the feeling that some of those books are Christian fiction, that Arthur and Laura approve of.

So much in her life is about to change. There is no way her lifestyle will ever fly in the Maxwell cult. It is kind of sad; I knew homeschooled girls like her when I homeschooled, so sweet and innocent and conscientious about everything. I would not wish this on any of those girls. She had better enjoy her swimming and Pepsi and cutesy decorations while she can.

Elizabeth looks so young. I guess she was more "done up" for the official announcement photos, but the pictures of her everyday life emphasize just how young and sheltered she is. She is in for a rude awakening. She has my deepest sympathies.

LOL I would hope not!

Between the books and the house being a mile away I wonder if this is a subtle FU to Steve.

Could be. It's hard to fathom Steve having such a deep psychological hold over all of his children to the point that NONE of them rebels, not even a teensy bit. Joseph could be taking some baby steps here. Even Nathan the "good" son has a Facebook account where he likes pages that Steve would not approve of.

Yeah - she's 20, but... a totally sheltered 20. I have cousins who married and had kids by 20 but they'd all graduated from public high schools and had regular adult JOBS and stuff already (even if they were living at home). They were treated as adults before getting married.

So many of the sheltered fundie kids just come off as years younger than they are, and not in a good way either. They just seem so naive (and I realize that for a lot of the fundie parents, they brag about exactly this - we just disagree...)

Yeah, I doubt any of them will go out with a bang. Would be awesome, but unlikely.

Also, is Nathan's FB account still visible? I'd like a link, please.

The top shelf looks like a lot of photo albums, and I think the stuff on the top shelf behind J might be homeschool stuff. There are Dr. Seuss books on the bottom shelf next to J, and I *THINK* that might be Anne of Green Gables in the series next to E's shoulder.

Lots of Civil War books too.

Most importantly to me, there are lots of children's toys in this home. Hopefully Miss Elizabeth will be able to have that in her new Maxwell life. I hope she has backbone enough to provide more than chore packs for her children's entertainment.

The Maxwells are anti-books???

I like the Muncks, they are batshit crazy, but their blog is actually quite adorable, it seems they do a lot of fun and inventive things and really like each other.

I just peaked. His latest activity says he watched several VIDEO'S on SocialCam. Now how is this different from watching TV?! :liar:

It isn't. But shhhhhh, don't tell Steve! The more Nathan is exposed to anything outside of Planet Maxwell, the better for his whole family. (Unless he's looking at kiddie porn or something like that.) His many "likes" for fitness pages makes me think he is mourning his baseball days. Poor guy.
