I wish TLC would just embrace the family again and deal with The Smug one. I'm so beyond tired of the girls. They've got nothing going on. I want to see what the younger girls are doing. Are Hanny and Jackson still buddies? Who's teaching the kiddos now that Tabitha left? What do they do all day? Do they still see Gma duggar? Why can't they visit Amy at her house? Who do they spend time with? What do they eat? So many things they could address instead of the stupid crap they show. I'm so tired of the made up stuff they say and show. Show us really stuff. What does Joy do with her time? What could the boys possibly be doing for JB?

Maybe they pull counting on and go back to the family specials.

I honestly don't think JB would let that happen. He's savvy enough to fight tooth and nail to always be prominent on TLC. Their cancellation didn't last long at all.

Anyone know how to get electric blue nail polish out of $2k worth of new carpet? Or would it just be easier to replace the teenage girl who spilled it. Not even spilled our new kitty knocked it off DDs desk as she was doing her nails, and as she tried to grab it she smacked it flinging across her bedroom out and her door. Of course it was a brand new bottle so it was full and flowed nicely. Fortunately I work for a janitorial company that works on floors, unfortunately they can't get to it today or tomorrow and this happened last night.

3 daughters. i feel your pain. Bedding, flooring, hell my sofa and dining room table. Nothing is safe.

Actually, I have to admit, I'm a little bit jealous of Jinger because she was able to snatch a man that is older, (presumably) much more together with his education (master's degree in finance!), traveling  than her. In what world does such a pairing of an uneducated, much younger and very shy girl and an relatively highly educated, older, ex sports professional, traveller etc, end up together and get married. I think if Jinger wasn't a tv personality and that pretty she would have never ended up with a man like Jeremy.

when I used to date men I wasn't even able to find a man that was somewhat nice and educated and/or intelligent. All the "good" men were caught by very outgoing, extra, over-the-top women, who were very agressive in their flirting towards men and always got their way. I'm not even very shy, nor very outgoing, just in the middle, but still was invisible to any elligable men out there. Now, I'm happy because I married a woman who is my soulmate :-), but I had to fight for years to even get noticed by , well, anybody at all. Damn, I never stood a chance with men with that many agressive women out there. It's like men don't even have a say in what women to end up with , they just get caught by the most agressive one and give in to their future life.

So, yes, I'm a bit jealous of Jinger because she had it so easy with the dating game, at 22 !, to catch a husband like that is just incredible in my book. Lucky Jinger :-)

I think the odds are ever in their favor.

Jinge already ditched the dress code somewhat. I doubt we will be seeing her in a bikini or daisy dukes though. She already seems way more comfortable and confident. Like Jeremy has introduced her to the Notebook, Titanic and Beyonce. I loved the fact she kept telling her sisters that you guys can visit in a couple of months or give us 'A few months '. She has no desire to go back to Arkansas ever. Plus the kept dodging the baby question, they have no plans on having doubly digit kids. 4 to 6 max. Spread overtime.

Ha! Did this come up in an episode? I'm glad Jinger has Beyonce in her life.

I never ruined something with my nailpolish. Except my nails :my_biggrin:. BUT I made a huge scratch in my sink because of my nailpolish bottle. :Bang2:

As long as we are talking nails- I like to show mine off.  These are my natural nails. I have always had long nails but usually they would break shortly after growing over the edge of my finger. Ever since we started TTC 1.5 years ago and I started adding in extra vitamins to the prenatal I normally take, my nails have been incredibly long and strong. I think it might be the extra folic acid or magnesium. They can bend without breaking. They freak my husband out sometimes :D

I love the red color, but somebody tell me where this fad of claws/vampire/druggie nail shape came from??

I have heard from some women that the shape keeps the nail from breaking off as easily. I'm not sure how true that is, as I've never done acrylics.

Whoa whoa, I never implied mental health or substance abuse. It was written as claws/vampire/druggie because all 3 have that shape. Most werewolf movies, Michelle Pfeifer in Batman, both Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in Interview with a Vampire, Michael Wincott in The Crow, etc.  I don't like 2 inch long acrylics either. I guess I'm just a traditional nail person.

When my mom was going through chemo, her nails became very strong and long. She passed away with what looked like a fresh manicure, which was pretty fitting for her personality.

My cousin took prenatal vitamins for a little while, even though she was not married and was not trying to conceive, just for the good nutrients. My uncle lost his lid when he found them when she was fresh out of college!

I swear by a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, water, and dish soap.  It's taken long-standing tea stains out of my carpet.  I googled and it said peroxide would work for nail polish as well.

I would just be careful and do a little spot test first.

Thanks we tried this since it was what the carpet guy recommended too, we did on a spot in her closet and it got most of it up left just a small blue shadow, so we did the rest of it, and by we I mean my daughter. We've told her over and over not to do her nails in her room, she'll think before doing that again. 2 hours of carpet scrubbing and a $50 carpet cleaning bill isn't fun for 17 year olds.

He can fight all he wants the fact of the matter is this family is toxic and boring AF.  The shine is off this turd and their appeal is wearing thin, unless they change some of their views and stop being smug self righteous assholes, they have a limited appeal. The people who agree with their small minded beliefs are a small minority, and even that minority only gets a minority to watch them and seriously they are BORING. These people are so isolated and so insulated, they have nothing to show. They only allow people to see them they don't  interact or see other people.  They need to seriously expand their world if they want to stay on TV there is only so much of watching the older girls sit around doing their hair a TV show can take.

Or, the show could be picked up by a Christian or more conservative network. That's what happened to the Bates. Their TLC show lasted 8 episodes. A. couple of years later, they are on UP, a Christian network.

I sure hope it is a troll.

Whether troll or not, I'm personally quite glad we are having a conversation about BC, pregnancy and STDs. I considered myself quite well-informed, but learned a lot about developments that simply passed me by. For example, my knowledge about IUDs, Implants and the Nuvaring was quite lacking. So via the info here, the links and some googling, I learned new things that help me make reproductive choices.

I think it's important to keep up to date, because this whole conversation showed me that I wasn't quite as well-informed as I thought. I still thought that IUDs were only for women who'd already had children, and had no idea that you can get some that also work on a hormonal level. But the more you know, the better informed your choices are.

I learned an awful lot, and I'm grateful for that.

Fixed that top line for you.

As for being unlucky and not out chasing other women, if you have to chase ANYONE that hard they aren't worth it.  Those "aggressive" women that catch a certain type of man, older wealthy good looking. MOST of those men want a hot piece of ass and nothing more. As soon as that piece of ass gets old or stale they are gone.  Who wants to marry someone who says I will stop loving you if you get fat or get ugly? FUCK THAT! I'll take my average looking man with his average job and his average pay check, he treats me like a queen, and he's got it pretty good too.  I always say I'd treat him like a King but it might go to his head and we can't have Royals in this house.

So I tracked down some regular media articles referencing what I mentioned a couple of pages back in case some one was interested.

I included the original journal article for the girl pregnant via oral sex as well as a regular media one.  I had forgotten that she had been stabbed in the stomach.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Wellness/teen-girl-vagina-pregnant-sperm-survival-oral-sex/story?id=9732562

I'm having a harder time tracking down one for the other girl.  I did find an interview The Sun did with one of her doctors but I was hoping for something from a more legit source.  (BTW DON'T GOOGLE THIS ONE AT HOME.  If I get arrested and my computer confiscated for the porn sites that popped up on my google search I won't be surprised.)

I tracked The Sun article back to this one:

I still don't see why Jeremy is seen as such a catch. Yes, he is educated and some find him attractive, but then what? That's easy to find. How is Jinger so lucky? She got a man that deliberately sought out a woman who is uneducated, raised to be subservient and who has never made an adult decision in her life. How is he not suspect? That an educated man would seek out a Duggar woman raises a million red flags in my book. He obviously was not looking for a woman to have intellectual conversations with since she was raised to believe that intellectual pursuits are a bad thing. I don't buy into the idea that she is lucky to have a man who will teach Her about the world. If he wanted a worldly woman, he would sought one out. I don't get what it's so great bout a man who will basically has to raise his wife to adulthood, which I doubt he would allow.

Who cares if Jinger can wear sleeveless dresses or pants, she can only do it because it's what her headship allows. If he wanted her  wear a potato sack she would because he makes the rules and she follows them. She is never going to spend her days at the library or rock out to Beyoncé because if Jeremy wanted a wife like that he wouldn't have married Jinger. I don't understand the notion that Jinger is suddenly going to live a mainstream life when Jeremy deliberately sought out a sheltered girl who was never allowed to be a woman. Guess what, if he allows her to make her own decisions and reach her potential, she isn't the woman he married and originally wanted. He doesn't want that or he would have married someone with the same educational background and ambition. If Jinger were to get an education and new view on the world, there should no guarantee she will want to stick life she has, i.e. Married to Jeremy and being the perfect, simple (Jeremy's word) preacher's wife. Why would he risk that?

This is speculation, but I think he's a catch- to Jinger. Jinger, who has been taught all her life that she is subservient to her husband. Whose ultimate achievements have always been marriage and babies. Who expected a headship when she first entered a courtship. Look at who her sisters ended up with. Both Derick and Ben hardly employed and dependent on Jimbob. Hardly the independent headships this woman was raised to expect for a husband. I don't think Jinger was looking for someone to have intellectual conversations with because she was never taught that intellectual conversations are important. She wasn't looking for an equal partner because she was raised to submit to men. She might not want her partner to help her bloom and flourish in the ways we would like her to, because she has always been taught that worldly influences are evil.

I'd rather not marry Jeremy myself, and I hardly think he's a catch, but I still think he's the most desirable of the Duggar husbands. But look at the competition- that's really not hard :P

Lol where were you looking? A meat market? I guess I never had this problem since I met my husband online. I guess you don't have to be super aggressive or outgoing to find a mate online.

I don't think she's free or anything. But if I had a choice between the angry hippie, the rapping moron, and the soccer preacher, I would pick the soccer preacher in a second. I think people are just comparing him to the mega duds that are Ben and Derick.

There's a title count in there somewhere.  Or a song, "The only one who would ever love me, was the soccer preacher man..."

Angry hippie is now my new name for Derrick.

I agree. This family is interesting if they show the real side of the them, honest reactions is real time. Counting on is like watching stepford wives. And funny thing is Jinger will probably be the most exciting to watch as she navigates her first year of marriage leaving all her family rules behind but she seems to be the one that doesn't want the cameras around at all.

Honestly I don't see much of a value in Jeremy's education (does he really have a Master's though?) if he never used any of it and it almost seems like he regrets that time because college was a time of sin for him. He was probably mainly in college for soccer and that career didn't last too long either. Nevertheless, he still could have used those two things  (connections and degree) for a solid career but he chose to preach to people because he has so many incredible things to say. No thanks.

I have the Skyla. They recommended the mirena, but when they looked at my cervix and saw that I had never given birth, they gave me the Skyla instead.

Full disclosure: they had to use a manual dilator to dilate my cervix to fit the thing in. It wasn't the most painful thing that ever happened to me, but it was definitely the weirdest pain. Just a really strange thing to happen to someone who had had sex  only about 3 times ever many months prior. The whole procedure lasted 30 minutes and I had medium bad cramps for a day.

After that? Nothing. I spot so lightly that sometimes I don't even notice and some months there's nothing. I go through about 2 pantyliners in a month compared to 12 or so heavy duty pads a month. And I'm not pregnant. And it lasts for 3 years. I have no mood swings. No cramps. No hot flashes. No changes in libido.

The 30 minutes of weird pain plus a day of cramps is definitely worth 3 years of worry free sex. Granted, I'm married and I know my husband is clean, so really the only stress I'm worried about is pregnancy at an inopportune time.

Is there a medical reason you are averse to hormonal options? I have migraines with aura, and they recommended the Skyla to me over the pill.

As mentioned in previous comments, you have no idea how you'll react to birth control until you take it. If you're worried about mood swings, weight gain, hot flashes, changes in libido, changes in basically anything, I have something crazy to tell you about pregnancy: all that can happen PLUS you get a baby at the end.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. I have the Skyla and i'm getting it inserted tomorrow and I was sort of freaked out because of all the horror stories I've heard about the pain.... I have a very high pain tolerance and I'm not too too worried... but it's nice to hear someone say it wasn't that bad!
