Dominionism comes to my area in a big way

The New Life Church, founded by Jerry Falwell, got its tentacles into a mainstream Baptist church in my town a few years ago, and has two "campuses" here now. It advertises itself as "a church for people who don't like church."

 

Its big celebrity member is our former Republican governor John Rowland, who did time for corruption, and now hosts a right-wing talk show.

 

The sect has become so popular that it hosts its Christmas and Easter services in a major concert venue in the next town over. Now it's bought a girnomous outdoor recreation and entertainment complex in the same town for $1.8 million dollars:

Any church that can go out and buy a $2,000,000 entertainment property after a few years is running more as a business than a church.
