...about Scott Brown becoming a dominionist?

You wrote over on Datalounge (and i only now just found it) on your thread about Kelly BRADRICK being pregnant with number 5:

... Kelly's dad, Scott Brown, did not become a Dominionist until she was a teenager. She knows what "normal life" is like, and she rejects it. Still, Peter should not have taken her to Europe when she was in such delicate condition, and Scott (who was there!) should have certainly expressed some disapproval to his son-in-law. ...

Unlike converts to other ways of life, it doesn't seem that Doms like to talk about their previous, hopeless conditions. Thus I'd always figured that Scott Brown was a Rushdoony-lovin' guy bent on world domination from little on up.

TIA!

WOW, I would also like to know more. Considering how hardcore Kelly is, I always assumed she'd been trained into the VF life from infancy.

Hi, MJ! In this 2004 article, Scott says he banned bathing suits from his swimmin' hole "several years ago"-- so Kelly would have been in her early teens.

visionforumministries.org/issues/family/why_i_am_against_bikini_clad_g.aspx

That same year, Kelly wrote about how difficult the modesty transistion was for her:

visionforumministries.org/issues/family/my_fathers_daughter.aspx

Hope this helps. :)

Yuck. From one of the sites posted by DomWackTroll:

"He would often say. “But because I feel so strongly in this area, so convicted by the Lord, I’m asking you to trust me. I know it won’t be easy, but I need the support of my family in this. I’m sorry it’s painful, but I love you.â€

Talk about guilt-tripping.

Talk about full of shit...

I'm sure that if teenage Kelly told him that God was convicting her to focus on her heart instead of clothes Scott wouldn't give one damn about what God wanted HER to do.

Also, MJ, The Wartburg Watch has been down for a few days due to technical problems, but when it is back up, you might want to search "Scott Brown." They have lots of info there about Scott's conversion to Dominionism and the drama and division it caused at his church.

I love how she quotes Helen Keller, a socialist and anti-war pacifist, in that "father's daughter" post.

It's interesting that he seems to find bare-chested men every bit as tempting as bikini-clad women.

Ole Helen was pretty much an avowed atheist, too, IIRC.

DWT and others, thank you so much for the information.

Confession: I wish men had to cover their nips just as we do. Sorry, it's just that most male chests are better covered. There, I said it. ;)

Confession 2: I've heard it said that Scott has quite a bit of the fey about him, so the ban on bare chests doesn't surprise.

Confession 3: I'm inclined to frustration that Scott only "recommends" shirts or rashguard jerseys for his male lake-goers, but evidently requires uber-modest swimwear for females.

I've read the Wartburg Watch article before, IIRC, but am off to re-read.

Oh, one other thing that hit me in the face like a mass of wild, curly hair: Scott decries fancy hairdos but apparently has no problem with the wild mane his wife, Deborah, wears. Before this devolves into a debate over hair, please let me say that I have no problem with Deb wearing her hair like a woman who runs with the wolves. What I have problem with is Scott preaching one thing to his female adherents (including his 3 daughters) and permitting his wife to wear her hair in a style that is very attention-getting. Do as I say, not as I do; all animals are equal but some are more equal than others ... yeah, it's annoying as snot but it all fits.

Anybody who's interested in thinking more about how Scott might have influenced (bullied?) his daughters, son and wife into his point of view would find http://ephesians511.wordpress.com/how-i ... -to-42206/

pretty instructive. This guy was willing to go to some pretty incredible and desperate measures to beat his fellow congregational elders into submission. You can imagine the tactics he used/uses at home. "Gently persuaded," or words to that effect, did he or Kelly write? Yeah.....

More evidence of Scott Brown's toolishness...

Why the hell would he post this picture as some kind of symbol of (memento of his) Memorial Day celebrations?

scottbrownonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Girls-Memorial-Day.png

Yes Scott, it would be a great idea to make the few children of color who attended your shindig pose for a picture where they are saluting a Confederate, Civil War re-enactor. The picture would be ever-so charming, and not the least bit ironic. Perhaps next year you can get a few of the remaining holocaust survivors to pose for a picture where they "seig heil" your grandsons decked out in their WW2 Nazi regalia.

Only as long as they don't ask him questions on how to do the children of color's hair...

Although I can't see their faces, due to their association with the Brown family, I'm thinking these children may be some of the girls that the Tsantles family adopted. Way to go Tsantles! What a way to make your adopted, minority children feel even more included in your community! I'm sure they'll cherish this picture as they grow older and are faced with the systematic and institutional racism that first grew its roots from the era they are saluting. Bravo  Your obvious color blindness in the choice of children for this photo truly blinds me!

That is so fucked up, other than that, I don't even know what to say!!

I can't believe I spent the evening reading that entire thing. Wow. WOW. How the hell did he not see his abuse of authority? And then to try to FORCE everyone to vote and declaring that abstaining on an issue the men, who prior to then had had their wives on equal footing, had only heard about for the first time? And declaring that abstaining counts as a No vote? WTF? Not a single person voted no, but the majority abstained, and he stomped off like a whiny child! What an immature, self-centered asshole.

And of course, OF COURSE, Doug was involved. Scott concealed that he was also working for VF, and working more hours, and making a higher salary, than Doug! So of course a VF statement that was brought u set him off. This makes Scott, in many ways, worse than Doug. Bravo on winning that trophy.

WTF do you expect from someone who was secretly working for VF for two years and actually put in more hours than even Dougie-boy? When I saw that picture, it jumped right out at me that all of their hair is what you'd find only on girls of African descent, and I was trying to convince myself that the man on the left wasn't a Civil War reenactor. Uh, the Confederates lost, and with that loss came the FREEDOM of slaves. If you want to talk about the wonderfulness of freedom, then don't worship the Confederates, who wanted to keep blacks enslaved as personal property.

I'm also bothered that an actual VFW participated in an event thrown by a church who doesn't see women as free citizens to do as they wish, a church that forces women into being homemakers and deprives them of enough of an education to do anything else. I'm ashamed of that man, and don't know that I could thank him for his service if he sees that church model - one of enslaving women and taking away rights - as a good thing.

This entry: http://scottbrownonline.com/preparing-boys-for-battle/ also jumped out at me. I think we all know that none of those boys will ever see a day of military duty.

Good lord, look at that. Of course Sunday school is age-segregated. It's so that children can be taught at a level they can understand. They don't understand the bigger words yet. They don't have an adult understanding of the world and the bible. Scott is so stupid that he thinks kids learn just fine. I guarantee you that kids who go to SUnday school understand the bible better than their peers who are forced to listen to a lecture they don't understand.

But he's got no problem segregating people by sex.
