Katie and Travis 5: Baby Makes Three

So Katie did (some) of her maternity pics in jeans. It took her almost a year of marriage to switch from skirts but I bet she keeps it up even after she has the baby. Although she still seems to wear skirts when at her ILs house (which I get).

I was just thinking, I hope Katie doesn’t struggle with her mental health postpartum, given the fact that she was having a hard time being away from her family before. Having your first baby is such a shock to your sleep and life in general and is so hard, and I get the sense that these two are so young and don’t know what they’re stepping into (then again, I guess it can be argued that really no one can be fully prepared until you’re in it). So I just hope she doesn’t have a rough go of things.

Well, if she's anything like her sisters she'll just try to pray it away!

So Travis's mom accompanied Katie to her last ultrasound and Katie stayed with them while Travis was away filming his music video. While the Clark's are undoubtedly creepy, I really do think they were a big part of the draw for Katie and that she loves how much attention they can give their kids/children in law.

Her own dad is super creepy, as are many of the men -maybe even a majority of the men- in IBLP, so her creepy meter is no doubt broken.

I would say I hope the younger gen is less creepy, but... David Waller says "nope, still creepy."

For sure. And she grew up in a controlling environment, so she probably doesn't see the level of control the Clark's assert over their family as abnormal. All she sees is the time and attention (and the money). Travis's upbringing must seem so different than her and you can tell she loves the attention that his parents give her.

This is actually why I think they will stay in NJ, as hard as Katie found the adjustment, I think she really likes the attention from his family instead of just being one of many in NJ. She is number 11, she has probably never gotten attention like this before and you can tell she is realizing by the way she speaks about Hailey and all that she wants to give her.

Interestingly, I think Travis's mom was the same way. Her testimony video was enlightening (in a disturbing way), explained how her parents were divorced addicts who  neglected her. So obviously the Clark family must have seemed like a godsend. It is really disturbing on one level, that the Clark men seem to seek out women who feel they are missing something in their own families.

Katie and Travis said today that the doctor is now predicting Hailey will be born at any time during the next two weeks. And she has a really big head.

I was kind of confused about that because it didn’t seem like there was a reason that the baby would be coming early? They didn’t say she was having contractions, dilating, or needing to be induced for any issues etc.

Hearing them say that Hayley's head is measuring big and that her limbs are short set off warning bells in my mind about dwarfism. Especially how Katie kept saying that it's just because she's short and Travis has a big head.

Hopefully the baby is born healthy and at full term.

Maybe I read too much into it, both both Katie and Travis seemed a bit tense in their insta stories discussing their latest appointment.

I think they can diagnose the most common forms of dwarfism before birth. Based on measurements. I have a friend with a longer torso, shorter limbs and a big head but she doesn’t have dwarfism.

Katie has the clotting disorder(s), right? I think most (all?) of the sisters with the clotting issues have delivered early.

She does and Katie herself acknowledged this when she first got pregnant, that her due date was March but that she would likely have the baby in February because her sisters always go early.

So Katie was told on Monday that she is showing signs of pre-term labour and will likely deliver within a week or two. That is why Carlin is now in New Jersey.

Erin typically gives birth around 36 weeks and I know some of the other girls have been early (Carlin with Layla).

Katie did one of those 24 hour reels on instagram and I think Kelly was in the last picture. She seems to be reverse-aging. I did a double-take, she looked like one of the daughters.

When there is a discordance between head size and the other measurements, I get worried about growth restriction - even if the other measurements are still within normal limits.  The brain can be preferentially spared with a growth restricted fetus/fetus with abnormal placentation.  A big head that is out of line with the other measurements is a red flag for me to take a much closer look at the fetus' well being and to bring it to the attention of the OB.

I suspect Katie's OB is deciding if the baby is better in or out. At 36 weeks, Katie is almost early term so I suspect that's why her OB is thinking delivery sooner than later.

Or vice versa.

My grandmother's mother died in childbirth with her brother. She never mixed well with her stepmom. They had unfair gender-based rules (for example, only the boys could ride horses). They had food insecurity. She said she would sneak to the attic and eat pickles. She married young and badly and had my mom. Then in a short romance, married my mom's stepfather who had his own family baggage. He was very strict with my mom but lavished attention on his own daughter. I believe my mom has some attachment disorder.

Anyhow, my mom met my alcoholic dad,  whose family seemed so family-ish to her that I think she was sold on the promise of a close family life. She didn't have the life experience to discern the co-depency and sickness in her new family.

What makes this even more hilarious is that Katie went from looking 12 to looking 38 seemingly overnight.

Very interesting; thank you for the insight. I do hope the baby is okay.

Katie is in the care of a real doctor. So whatever they saw and measured- they will take the appropriate steps. I doubt Katie and Travis would be happily sitting around filming YT videos if their doctor had talked about a potential condition, ordering more Sonos with a specialist or raised the topic of an early induction because of troubles.

I find Katie very distressing. I mean, I find all of these young Q women distressing, but she's one of the worst. Always on, and she seems desperate. I feel the same way (if not more so!) about Carlin, whose need for attention is overwhelming. And then I flash back to Tori being on the verge of jumping Brandon when he and Michael were courting. They're all so sad. The quieter ones (Alyssa, Josie) seem to have done better for themselves in framing out a life. Erin is ... Erin. I'd guess she spends more time on her hair and makeup in a day than I have in the last 20 years, but that's fine ... except she probably thinks she MUST do so, as opposed to just wanting to.

All of adult sisters have them except Alyssa.

How far do Katie and Travis live from Manhattan? I see from Katie's Insta that they went to Times Square with Carlin & Evan. If I could go into labor at anytime, I'm not sure I'd travel that far from home.

It’s sort of crazy how some of these stay at home daughters finally get to travel and have fun once they are married. For me, I got a lot of my partying and last minute trips out of the way before marriage. But I was in my early 20s just like these girls. But I was unmarried. So these SAHDs get to have their early 20s fun while married, pregnant, and with a baby at home. Don’t they see that it would make so much more sense to wait a few years to have kids? I wish more of them will realize that and wait.

About 2 hours, depending on traffic.
