Christendom’s Most Eligible Bachelor: Traditional Catholic Looking for Wife Blog

Catholic FJers, are you looking for the fundie Catholic man of your dreams/nightmares? Then look no further than “Christendom’s Most Eligible Bachelor” blog:

https://catholiclookforwife.blogspot.com/?m=1

A lot of it is the usually trad complaining about LGBT people, contraception, abortion, godless New England politics, and the US going to hell in a hand basket, but the most snarktastic part is where he lists his stringent demands for any prospective future Mrs. Chris Whittle:

https://catholiclookforwife.blogspot.com/p/why-im-so-picky.html?m=0

https://catholiclookforwife.blogspot.com/p/requirements.html?m=0

I knew I’d stumbled onto a gem when I saw his “Letter to Novus Ordo Women”, which unfortunately, I can’t quote because it’s in an embedded text box:

https://catholiclookforwife.blogspot.com/p/letter-to-novus-ordo-women.html?m=0

FYI Novus Ordo is the passive-aggressive term traditionalist Catholics use towards the post-Vatican II mass, and can be used as an equally passive-aggressive adjective to refer to the 99 percent of Catholics who aren’t trad. I’m kind of surprised at his uber patriotism (he’s really obsessed with the pledge of allegiance even though it was written by a socialist who wasn’t that keen on Catholicism), since a lot of trads, especially SSPX supporters, are knee-jerk monarchists. It’s these minor differences that are probably contributing to Mr Whittle’s protracted Bachelordom, since he seems to want a wife who agrees with him on every single thing.

Why doesn't he just get on Christian Mingle like a normal person?

I'm also not really understanding why his post about architect licensure has a random paragraph about college campuses brainwashing the youth that never goes anywhere.

I’m assuming that Christian Mingle mostly has Protestants on it, and from a trad perspective Protestantism is barely Christian. Even a dating site that caters to Catholics would consists mainly of “Novus Ordo Catholics” and Whittle has said that any prospective wife would have to agree to be Latin Mass-only. This is presumably why he wrote his “Letter to Novus Ordo Women” in which he mansplains how they’ve been lied to by the post-Vatican II Church while he will show them “the Truth.” Whittle is sort of like the Catholic version of those Protestant fundie patriarchs who give prospective suitors a theological questionnaire, except he’s cutting out the middle man by having prospective wives go directly to him for vetting.

He would have a whole damn grocery list of requirements for a wife but he is no prize guys who do this stuff are usually socially awkward guys who are borderline creepy who spiel the I'm a nice guy line thinking they are entitle to women for having a penis.

Oh my god there is so much to snark on. WTF with all those pictures of women with hands over their hearts? Just...the fuck? And he randomly lists his favorite names because....why? His wife can be an architect, but he'd prefer she didn't work?

What a little shit. I wonder why he's not married. *rolls eyes* I guess there are no women in his required age range that goes to his church.

He wants to date an artist or an architect! I'm sure his blog header will make, uh, some kind of impression on a young lady with an eye for design.

There is way too much to snark on here. What is his life like that he, as an adult, spends so much time thinking about the pledge of allegiance? He's worried that Catholic school teaches people to care for the poor rather than to become warriors for Jesus? Oh, the shame! I also like that if you email him you don't just get a date-- you get a whole six-month courtship!

This dude reminds me of an old high school classmate of mine who went headlong into trad catholicism in college. He was painfully obnoxious and unattractive and I think he needed a way to feel like he was choosing to separate himself from others, like he was too good for the rest of his peers, when in fact it was his peers who had rejected him. I once found his dating profile while browsing through folks in my hometown. It was the cringiest thing I've ever seen, complete with a long diatribe about how he could only date a virgin and a teetotaler and how most of the women he knew were whores and drunks. (He also said he would only date white women-- funny how those ideologies tend to go hand in hand...)

Anyway, when I was home for Thanksgiving I found out that guy recently got married. I hope the poor girl knew what she was getting into.

This guys has zero idea of what goes into an actual relationship and how marriage and partnerships work.

12. "...be with each other as much as possible..." This is the objective of marriage! No brainer. You want to be with each other! It is not just in the bed. It is in life in general.

He also thinks that his future wife could be a grade-school teacher because she'd "have a convenient schedule".

Oh shit, he blames breast cancer on the pill and then says his mother is being treated for breast cancer. He says she claims to have taken the pill for a bit (though she doesn't have a good memory), and that would mean she couldn't have an "ecclesiastical burial".

He's so creepy with his posts showing all these women with their hands on their hearts. It's just so bizarre.

He is probably too creepy for the women at his latin mass parish. I bet nobody meets his requirements since most young Catholic woman I have met are  novus ordo who don't veil and those who are artchitechs or artists aren't usually huge on traditional heavily gender role religion. A friend of mine in college was a Catholic architect but she wouldn't even meet his requirements since she liked the novus ordo mass. He may want to try his luck on a SSXP singles site. I went to a latin mass parish for a visit and it was beautiful and the women all veiled but its very different.

His letter to the Novus Ordo women!  F you dude!  He sure has us all figured out huh?!  Pompous windbag.

Yeah, he's a catch. *massive eyeroll*  He's far from a real, good man.  The Pledge of Allegiance thing makes him sound about 6  yrs old with the focus and voracity.  Juvenile.   Gross!

How do people like this, who hate homosexuality and sexual sin reconcile the RC church's many sins in that area?

It shook me and I was half out the door.

I wonder how old this guy is

I wonder, too. He's been blogging since 2008 and his archives go back to 2010. He's not a kid.

Ugh, that link right above this again includes his cheapness.   No thanks.  Smart with money is good, cheap is not.  Big red flag.

WATF. Words fail me.

Quote

There's no big secret that as a man, I am naturally attracted to the female sex. This blog clearly shows I have no priestly or religious order vocation, so the only other acceptable option for Catholics is to marry OTHER CATHOLICS. The summer season more amplifies this with more tank tops, t-shirts, and bikinis. At least I have never slept with someone and never entertained to live with someone I'm not married to!

I have conservative Catholic relatives (they're not Latin-Mass wackjobs, though) with unmarried daughters in their 20s. God forbid those sweet young women should ever run into this fucking creep. He's scary.

Eta: I get the feeling based on some of his posts that the average Catholic gal traditional enough for him might be the wrong skin tone for Prince Charming here.

I think at the very least this guy clearly has some major issues that go beyond simply being an arrogant asshole.

Don't think I'll be running out to buy his book anytime soon even though he says it'll be the best $60 ever spent on an architecture book!

In a post he blames DACA for him being unemployed for being a "real" Catholic and how those evil brown immigrants are stealing jobs from Catholic men like him. Nah I'm gonna go with this guy is just a lazy ass hole with no ambition or drive aside from the drivel he posts on his blog.

He looks so creepy in his grainy user photo with the unflattering buzz cut he has going on. His community barber totally failed him.

That video yeah I think he may be a little slow or off he talks in such a flat tone. He reminds me of a Catholic guy I know who is very socially delayed and seems clueless to how normal young adults function. I wonder if he has some kind of mental or developmental delay and that is why he is not employed and reads off for someone his age.

Oh dear Rufus, he's special.  I cease fire.  Jerk views but not fair game like say Steve Anderson.

ETA: that explains the odd patriotism.

Ok, bye.

You know, no job interview I've ever had asked me about my religion. I don't know anyone who was rejected from a job because of their religion.

I'd bet real cash money that he announces he's Trad in interviews and gives a list of all the Feast/ Holy/ Ember/ Rogation/ Saints days he needs off as well as a diatribe on how he expects his co-workers to behave. He's also most likely creepy, obnoxious and socially awkward -- the sort of interviewee that employers run fast and far away from.

FYI I'm Catholic, but one of those awful Novus Ordo women he abhors.  Contrary to what he writes, I take my faith seriously -- I know how to pray the Rosary, fast and do meatless Fridays in Lent, and have a devotion to the BVM and several saints.  I'm just like most of the women in my parish.

He’d blame the sex abuse scandals on a mixture of gay men in general, gay priests in particular, and the effects of Vatican II loosening Catholic practices. Never mind that the Church Fathers were railing against abuse during antiquity.

He’s probably the sort of guy who can’t help but evangelize people on the job, which few people appreciate. He seems uncomfortable being around non-traditionalists to the point where he should just go to some trad ghetto like St. Mary’s, Kansas where his beloved SSPX has its US headquarters. Of course, he probably couldn’t pursue architecture in such a small town, but he would be more likely to find the kind of woman he claims to want.
