[link=http://www.thebatesfamily.com]The Bates Family[/link] have updated their website and blog with a whole new look! And included a Store where you can get Erin's CD's and other CD's and Childrens Books...

The [link=http://www.thebatesfamily.com/character.aspx]books[/link] I found rather, erm, lets say interesting..

Dare To Dream!

Fun Times With: Courage / Responsibility / Self-Discipline

Nelson, in spite of living in a single parent home and a gang and drug infested environment, became a successful doctor, his best friend Jesse became an award-winning architectural engineer, and his brother Alvin ended up in jail.

Miserable Millie

Fun Times With: Respect / Trustworthiness / Fairness

Millie always complained when things didn’t go her way. She steals money from her mother’s purse and runs away. After many disasters, she learns why rules and boundaries are important.

I love how these books go from one extreme to another! Way to brainwash your kids and get them to tow the party line huh?

Found them! Links lead to Amazon.com. I didn't include all the books they recommend cause most are too boring.

Miserable Millie

Dare to Dream

Evidence of Things Not Seen

The King's Daughter and other Stories for Girls -This one has a nicely critical review

On the Other Side of the Garden - advice for women who want a happy marriage. This one has a tragic two-star review.

Fun Times with Self-Discipline...

sounds like a how-to book on some niche sexual preference

The ridiculous irony is that although the Bates children do not live in a single parent home or a drug infested environment, none of them will ever become anything close to a successful doctor or an award-winning architect. Their parents have made damn sure of that.

From a positive review of The King's Daughter:

One of the stories is of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette's daughter. How she was in a prison, and had grace. She also kept her room clean!

Oh, sweet Jaysus, the irony of it all....
