Dear Chris Christie,

If you think that not getting to have special airport privileges is crummy, wait until this summer when you can't use the beach if the state has closed it down. I know this will be hard for you to understand after last year...

I'm wondering when he is going to get sucked up into Muller's web. Think about it. New Jersey, casinos, Trump, shady business deals. Smells rotten to me.

He did work on the campaign. And then didn't get that VP job he was promised. And then got the door slammed in his face after Dump won. We haven't heard him screaming ridiculous support for Dump. He knows it was Jared who kept him out so a wonderful opportunity to slap back at Jared?

Good news from one of the whitest men in America! I'm so proud.

https://www.postandcourier.com/politics/gov-henry-mcmaster-urges-s-c-to-stand-for-super/article_6833c23e-05ec-11e8-8520-43b546e898b2.html

I have no idea if that worked but if not, my whiter-shade-of-pale governor wants all of us to stand during the national anthem on Sunday no matter where we are. That's right, another member of the party of small government telling me what to do in my home.

Let me tell you why this is a bad idea. If I were a bar owner anywhere in this state except at the end of some scary dirt road, I'd be pissed. Now you'll have a bunch of drunk, gun-toting rednecks in your bar making sure that everybody stands because they believe that this "proclamation" is now the law. So most bar owners now realize that the only people they'll have in their bars on Sunday are a bunch of drunk, gun-toting rednecks looking for a fight. Sane people will pass on the bar, to save their own lives and have a party at home. Bad news financially for the bar-owners.

BTW, he got a bad sunburn from this on twitter.

More details here:

Quote

Gardner's statement said a grand jury found probable cause to believe Greitens violated a Missouri statute that makes it a felony if a person transmits the image contained in the photograph or film in a manner that allows access to that image via a computer.

The text of the indictment says that Greitens committed the Class D felony of invasion of privacy "in that on or about March 21, 2015 ... the defendant knowingly photographed K.S. in a state of full or partial nudity without the knowledge and consent of K.S. and in a place where a person would have a reasonable expectation of privacy, and the defendant subsequently transmitted the image contained in the photograph in a manner that allowed access to that image via a computer."

Buh-bye, Eric.

The furor over Missouri Governor Eric Greitens' extramarital affair w/ alleged blackmail is quite something.

Greitens himself was actually raised Jewish but as a Rethug, has clearly chosen to run with fundie "pro-life" position. He's also embraced other RW shite, like right to work.

He was a Rhodes scholar, completed a PhD at Oxord, became a decorated Navy Seal officer.

Friends in MO don't think this will get Greitens turfed out of the gov's office but a local NPR reporter thinks he's in trouble.

And this has blown up AGAIN late this afternoon.  A grand jury in St. Louis is charging him with invasion of privacy.  Greitens is both apologizing AND saying that they made a mistake in charging him for a personal mistake made before he was elected governor.  however, there are calls for his removal.    And the state senate/house will be looking into this.

He put a bad taste in my mouth with his 'I'm a navy seal' campaign ads.  Because I kept going, that's nice but what are your policies, what are your proposals.  And then there was the whole issue of the size of the salary he was getting from the charity he started for veterans.  (to which mentally I said, apparently the veteran your charity benefits is YOU).  Now, this.  Just go.  (and stop reminding me of Clinton and the 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman')

I really want to know if the victim has a copy of the pic he took (didn't he text it to her?) and if she kept a voice recording of his threats and if these are now in the hands of the prosecutor.

If there is neither, wouldn't it be a "he said, she said" situation?

If there is a pic or recording, he'll soon be leaving to "spend more time with his family" that is, if his wife decides to hang around.

Something happened because when this first came out, he was playing the "he said, she said" card and trashing her but now the indictment. She may have been playing her cards close to the vest and letting him talk himself into a corner. Or he may have stupidly played into her hand after the information first came out.

Yeah, prison is the best revenge. Wifey will wander off. Who's going to blame her for finding a "friend" to support her?

Whoops. Rick Scott just said he wants to make it impossible for anyone who has "mental issues" to buy a gun. I don't think the NRA is going to be happy that I can't buy a gun.

How can you end up as the governor of a state and not know how to be more careful with your words?

That was fun! I love the Twitter sometimes. Especially when it's people taking a stupid group like the Missouri GOP to task. There was some good stuff in there. "Who hasn't tied up their hairdresser?" :laughing-rolling:

My governor, John Carney, has proposed for a ban on the sale of assault style weapons. Sounds good, but even in my blue state of Delaware, I don't think that's going anywhere.  Because guns.

He also proposed eliminating funding for the mammography van that provides mammograms for low income women throughout the state.

And that's the news from Delaware.

Ugh. Well, at least here in South Carolina we all know that Henry McMaster doesn't care about anybody who's not a member of his all-white, all-male country club. No confusion about his loyalties.

The NYT has an article on the MO law under which Gov Greitens has been charged.

Of interest is this clear comment, apparently from someone in MO:

Quote

Here are the 5 elements of the charge:
1) knowingly photograph someone
2) without that person’s consent
3) while that person was in a state of partial or full nudity
4) in a place where that person would have “a reasonable expectation of privacy” and
5) transmit the photo “in a manner that allows access to that image via computer.”

It is believed that Grand Jury members have seen the photo, which Greitens claimed to have deleted. Not, apparently, before he hit "send." A seven member committee has been chosen by the Missouri House leadership. It was well chosen, and will not cut Greitens any slack. A letter signed by 12 Republicans has called for Greitens to resign. Marsha Haefner (R - St. Louis County) said during the news conference announcing the letter and call for the governor to resign that the women at the Capitol are talking about Greitens behavior amongst themselves.
A male stripper who was convicted of the same charge in 1999 has asked the governor for a pardon. His conviction - it was a plea - set precedent, and a pardon will only solidify the precedent, as will letting the conviction stand.
