Interesting article on birth statistics in the US. I find it interesting that there is a correlation between more education and less children, less education and more children. Perhaps this could explain why so many fundies have a horror of higher education. They embrace the policy of breeding more instead of breeding smarter.

Higher-education women and men waited longer in life to have children and on average had fewer. Women with household incomes lower than 150% of the poverty level were more likely to have four or more children.

What is our society going to look like in just a couple of generations from now when the empoverished outnumbers the educated?

Children of the impoverished ALWAYS outnumber children of the rich. Poor people ALWAYS have had more children than wealthier people. This was the great concern of the eugenicist movement, that we were going to be "swamped" with "subnormal" adults because their poor, stupid parents wouldn't stop breeding. And it goes back further than that - Ancient Rome saw debates about how to encourage the patricians to have more kids so they could prevent themselves from being taken over by the poorer classes.

This is nothing new.

I find it interesting that you explicitly equate "impoverished" with "uneducated" and "educated" with "rich", though.
