I’ve always been curious what Delaney’s mom did that got her banned from FJ.  I feel

like asking is against the rules, I’m just stating my curiousity.

We usually consider that private information to the individual.  I don't remember exactly any more anyway.  I'd be guessing which isn't fair to anyone.

I assumed so.  And I wasn’t even sure if maybe she requested it.

I like Delaney’s mom.  I think her anger and grief and all her feelings are justifiable, and have generally assumed whatever it was was likely heat of the moment because of her situation.  But I own I am a nosey nosey person and am super curious.  It all went down during my long absences from the board.

I can say that banned is a different category than requesting to have an account discontinued.

RF seems to have had a July 4 concert, as usual, but I'm wondering whether anyone with an inside scoop knows if MS's songs were played? When I was in RF, I listened almost daily and almost exclusively to RF music (and when I left, my life got verrryyy quiiiiet). MS wrote a TON of that stuff. All his CDs, musical "viewsicals", etc.
RF always made a big deal about how you could listen to "any" music, but as far as RF-written songs go, are MS's not considered so great anymore? I mean, RFers would literally compare the guy to Beethoven.

I did not watch the 4th of July concert, but I have watched other services very recently and they do still use his music. They no longer credit him onscreen the way that they used to do in the past, but they still use it. Though not a fan of RF, there are a few of his songs that I liked, so I recognize them when they sing them. One that I felt had a particularly somber feel to it was "Faithful Evermore". It was probably just a couple of services ago or so that I heard them sing that one.

Well that seems a bit ironic if he's done a runner.

Hope he's happier now.

Is the song about God's faithfulness or the singer's?

I have no idea what the song says

In the end it amounts to the same thing, I think...  God's going to achieve whatever  faithful people are doing in his name. if you're faithful to your idea of God it may make a difference in your life, or someone else's, in good or bad.

I think everyone would probably better off if Gwen's God forgets all about them and vice versa..

From what I recall, it seems to be about both. There's a line in there that says "And He asks me who will build my place and I say I will...", also "and the house shall be called faithful evermore..." or some such.

Gwen's replay sermon for Sabbath service was about Weigh Down. I fast-forwarded through it, because I'm pretty sure that I've seen it before. I listened to Elizabeth's call-in speech and she said that she is staying away for the benefit of the Remnant children and that she's writing books about Remnant Doctrine 101 and marriage. She also stated that she will not be back up on that stage before God leads her to do so, but it also sounded like God might have been leading her to come back this fall.  She talked a lot about the authority line and how people often call Remnant a cult because they have an authority line, but that even in the Bible there was a line of authority. She made a comparison between herself and Moses of the Bible in that the people became restless because he was a long time coming down from the mountain and they began to turn to idols. She warned against that. She reassured them that she WOULD be back and that the church would be stronger than ever.

It seemed like her sermon was a response to our discussions here. She also mentioned that some of the blogs that were against them had been shutting down and that one of them shut down because she has not been proven to be a cult leader. She also referenced that a video had been taken down. She stated that this was proof of God's favor towards them.

Oh, my word.  I’d hoped they would line up with some nice, not-ultra-conservative, fun-loving denomination - thinking Episcopalian or liberal Presbyterian.

Doesn’t sound like there’s any hope of that.

Question: How would her staying off the stage protect the RF children?

This most recent service was very youth focused, and they are going to start having youth balls in the style of Cinderella or some such. They are brining back weekly youth meet-ups, which are "so exciting". Young people can learn how to put Gwen's teaching into practice. They had a few young adults give a testimony. They are very intent on securing the future of RF.

In regards to her staying off the stage and its impact on RF children...she stated that she had asked whether people would prefer that she gives lots of sermons as her mother did, or whether they would prefer that she write books telling her mother's story, a final book on parenting, one on marriage, and a RF doctrine 101 book. According to her, the latter was preferred, so she will be writing books. These books are meant to preserve the future of RF and that is supposed to help the youth. It sounded like she was saying that rather than being on stage, her time is better served writing. She referenced a 10 year timeline for the completion of all of the books.

Several people got on stage and testified that they back Elizabeth up 100% and they are here to stay. That is pretty much being stated over and over in one form or another. There seems to be a major concern over the future of RF. Elizabeth has been calling in more often to reassure everyone that she is working hard behind the scenes. She also mentions gossip quite often, which leads me to believe that there is some murmuring at RF regarding the way that leadership is handling things.

I have a feeling those books about Gwen will be like RF bibles. Proclaiming all the amazing things Jesus, I mean Gwen did when she was alive.

She has stated more than once that she wants to tell the story of Gwen Lara. I guess she wants to make sure to set the record straight about who her mother was, given all of the negative publicity. I think the RF 101/RF doctrine book will be a LOT like a Bible for them. She will also be writing books about parenting and marriage, which also seem like opportunities for her to set some records straight about what they believe and teach, especially in light of Gwen being accused of teaching things that led up to the death of a child.

All of this is ironic considering the verses in the Bible talking about not adding to the word of God…..

David Shamblin has lost mucho weight.  Not sure why, but he certainly has.  To me his ties to RF make this relevant.

I could make some guesses. Maybe he’s just happier in general. Maybe he felt like Gwen was constantly watching what he ate so he ate in secret. Maybe he restricted his food intake so much due to Gwen he would then overeat because he would get so hungry. That’s the thing about Gwen’s extreme diet. If you wait until you are hungry as hell to start eating, you are more likely to overeat. She’s setting people up to gain weight in some instances. And she’s definitely setting people up to be unhappy. I would have been happier after divorcing someone like Gwen.

I wonder if David feels even a smidge of guilt over his part in creating Gwen’s cult and profiting from a diet program he knew didn’t work or if he has convinced himself his hands are clean. His friend who came here very much wanted to rewrite history. An interview with David where he was asked difficult questions would be interesting. If Gwen defending people who tortured a child to death didn’t make him leave her, I have a feeling he would he would have never filed for divorce. He would have lived the life of luxury all while staying silent to the abuse he had to have known was going on.

I keep wondering if he was a money greedy arsehole or an abused spouse. So far I have no clue.

Like most humans, he’s somewhere in between. Most people aren’t total narcissistic predators nor total victims. He probably did have a lot of shit to deal with being married to someone like Gwen. However he also likely turned a blind eye to a lot of hurt she caused to others. If he has a conscience, he likely has some lingering guilt. Which is probably well deserved.

Considering how she micromanaged her congregation down to minute details of their weddings, she almost certainly would have been the same at home. Depending on how much he believed the religious side of her crazy, it could have been difficult to see the forest for the trees. I am sure the luxury softened the unpleasant things a lot.

I really  wish I can find the article that I read when Gwen was first brought up here and I decided to do a deep dive, but it was an old article about Weigh Down discussing how David was deeply involved in helping run the organization. The author pointed out that this was despite the fact he clearly didn’t follow the weight loss program he was making millions from. There are also stories from people who left who say David with his jovial personality at RF welcome parties love bombing them is one of the reasons they joined and if they had known from the start that he didn’t even go to church they wouldn’t have joined.  His friend who came here tried to downplay that David walked away from all this with an excessive amount of wealth earned through selling his wife’s abusive diet program. It sounds like David has convinced himself that the diet program is totally not toxic and that he deserves the money from it.

I’m sure he was miserable married to Gwen, but she didn’t seem to be able to do much with him. He lived his own life doing whatever he wanted. It is probably one of those situations where he got used to a lavish lifestyle and so he slowly began justifying the awful things that took place to provide that life. He was probably scared that if he filed for divorce she would take everything leaving him to live a normal life. But she filed for divorce and he got to be free from his wife all while maintaining the life he had gotten used to. No wonder he lost weight and looks so relaxed.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
