Wow. She is quite a little influencer: https://www.instagram.com/elikaboen/

I hope this caption makes some Duggar heads explode: "It's a sign for you to treat yourself this Ramadhan season by using my voucher code MAPCLUBELIKA and get 100k off for all MAPCLUB brands! "😀

Did I miss Jonathan's courtship/marriage? He's not listed as single nor in a relationship, but I have zero recollection of it.

No, I think he’s the only single Hartono left. Jennifer, Jason, and Jeremy are married/engaged.

I’m not sure what happened- He was still on the list on the last thread and I don’t remember taking him off. I’ll add him back the next time I update.

Oh man I guessed he would get engaged to her sister Lydia! They are always working together on photography. I wonder if there’s a fundie love triangle that went on behind the scenes.

Although I’m pleased there’s an Elizabeth, Lydia, and Kathryn Bennett in the family. I’m quite disappointed there’s no Mary or Jane.

Here’s the list of them on their blog:

https://bennettfamily11.org/meet-us/

Notice in Julianna’s about section, it notes she reads GA Henty. Some of his work is considered racist so I have to side eye that.

While I get these people are the last to deserve the benefit of the doubt, I still love Hemingway's works despite his raging misogyny.

I grew up with some of the GA Henty books.  They aren't all racist, and most of it is more of a white savior complex and colonialism rather than something overt.  Many people raised in VF-type circles are going to have to do a whole lot of work to start to recognize the problems.  It's more subtle.  I'm not going to fault a young person raised in that environment too much for not realizing the issues there.  They're going to need to start recognizing a lot of more overt racism surrounding them before they even start to get close to recognizing that Henty has issues in that area.

They're also just not great writing.  They're all basically the same story.  Young English man (or if pre-England, whatever is closest, generally, such as Saxon) ends up in war zone, catches the eye of whatever great military leader of their day Henty considered a hero, ends up in a position of close trust to said leader, gets captured by the enemy at some point, makes a daring escape, meets a beautiful girl who either is on the same side of the war as him and he rescues in some way, or else belongs to the opposite side but is sympathetic and he wins her over, and he leaves the war at the end with great honor, wealth, and a beautiful wife.  You've read one of his books, you've basically read them all.

It's Christian nationalism fueled prejudice (England > everyone else, so the more similar you are to England, the better you are), which is way more insidious for someone from that background.  It takes a whole lot of work to start to see the issues when it comes from that, and it's not always really overt.  There can also be some nostalgia around it where it was a part of childhood - there certainly is for me.  I wouldn't have a problem reading some of his stuff with kids of my own some day, but it's either going to be ones that have been pre-screened, or else older kids with a discussion of the issues involved.

True enough but the white supremacist laws against CRT, book-banning, and mandates for "parental control" of school curricula and librariesʻ book choices mean that such work is much less likely to happen. A lot of the VF-types are still homeschooling so they wouldn't choose to present CRT, etc. to their kids anyway but the wider culture is also doubling down on white supremacy. I fear things are going to get much, much worse before long.

Re: the Henty books. It always amazed me that VF leghumpers were so willing to pay huge amounts of money for the expensive VFI reprints of Henty and Elsie Dinsmore when you can get them for free from Project Gutenberg.

Yeah, I don't disagree, though the reality is that VF culture was all about insulating and protecting your kids from those kinds of influences anyway.  Public schools (and even private schools to a lesser degree) are seen as just indoctrination machines whose purpose is to turn out good little mindless atheists with an anti-God worldview.  For most people still close to those circles, the current CRT et al discussions just reinforces that the public schools are a hotbed of anti-God teaching that they would be sinning by sending their children to.

She’s Canadian and I guess it’s pronounced like Angela. I don’t know if it’s more popular in Canada.

Paul Morton, the youngest and last single Morton is in a relationship with someone from the hate group OSA named Julia. Edwin is already engaged to be married so that will leave an empty nest at Mortonville.

Except they are still responsible for Katie’s 8 because she’s divorced and back under daddy’s umbrella.

True, she's gotten the freedom to move...100 yards to Rachel's old house. Still, even with 11 of 12  - the total number of Morton grandspawn will be super high. I've been so busy IRL, I've lost track of the number but I know it's pretty high.

As of now they are up to 46 grandchildren.

Although it’s 46, they don’t see 15 of them because they live in Paraguay. I’m guessing they will hit 50 soon. With the new marriages and Alyssa being the baby factory that she is.

Wow. They must have ben working overtime to pair up their last 18 year old. Wonder where he & his hate group wifey will live & what he'll do for a living? It seems the construction business that employed all the sons is not doing as well as they'd hope; no evidence of this other than John moving to Florida & Andrew opening a coffee shop - clearly not working for the family business anymore. I figured Edwin would live in John & Campbell's old house. Maybe Paul will move up to the barn apartment since Sam & Alyssa finally moved out?

Guess I should update again? Frieda (Kiki, we renamed her) is here since the end of February 2021. She came with a bunch of problems, but is the best dog ever and is doing better every day. But we do now know how a dog with ptsd looks like. For real, not joking. If she is triggered during the day, she wakes up screaming at night. Not like dogs dream, but literally screaming. Other than that she went with us on countless trips, loves hiking and even cable cars. She is one heck of a fearless dog in situations who do not remind her of her old life.
My Grandpa passed away last May and I'm still grieving a lot. After sharing a house with my grandparents for over 30 years it is just horrible to lose one of them. Even though it was his decision and he got to go like he wanted. At home, in his bed during the night without doctors. He would have need more care and he did not want more care. So after turning 90 he decided to let go and became weaker and weaker.
In other news my dad stops working for good on April 1st. Retirement time. Keep my Mum and myself in your prayers. We really do not want him at home all the time. Haha!

Well, this is weird. At some point, recently, I broke my wrist. I had to get a Dexa-scan today (put it off for years) and along with some bone loss, damn I had it a few minutes ago… the results said, “Fracture risk is moderate, and the patient has a significant wrist fracture. Treatment is advised.”  my left wrist aches a little but not near as much as my back, feet, knees or fingers, damn RA. I have no idea how it happened. I haven’t fallen in 2 years, haven’t banged or bumped…  the dr will call tomorrow and we’ll get  this straightened out.
