https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/aug/13/matt-sh ea-biblical-war-washington-team-rugged    I just read this article today .  It turns out this U.S. representative has ties to a neo-Confederate , Christian right paramilitary camp for teen boys .  I'm thinking that maybe the boasts about right-wing militant cells in the United States , supported by the likes of Chuck Norris , might not have been a mere bluff . https://www.outsidethebeltway.com/chuck_norris_calls_for_revolution/    explain-difference.jpg Related to this

He's a state rep, not a congressman, but he clearly has higher ambitions. We were talking about him in the Morton thread because he traveled to Wisconsin to take part in an anti-abortion rally that they were part of. The fact that Operation Rescue sees a state politician who's most notable for being knee-deep in the white supremacist militia movement as their particular champion says volumes about the anti movement, imo.

Interesting that the article only briefly alludes to John Weaver's racist ideology. His preaching activities mostly involve railing against interracial marriage, and in addition to being part of the League of the South he is part of the Council of Conservative Citizens, which is the group that radicalized Dylan Roof. In a sane world it would probably be a bigger scandal that an elected official is hanging out with a guy like that.

There's an oregon public radio podcast that goes way in depth on Shea and his various shady associations, if you're interested.
