McWade was heading home to Travelers Rest on I-26 when a tractor trailer hit the front of her car, she said. Afterward, her car wouldn’t start, and a first responder moved it to the side of the interstate. The driver’s door was approximately two feet from the highway line, she recalled. 

McWade said she collects disability payments and has psoriatic arthritis, impaired mobility, early stage Crohn’s disease, severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. (She sent HuffPost a picture of the disability tag, as well as a photo of her many medications.)

“I was in a little bit of a shock, and definitely a little scared,” she said. 

Shupe showed up, saw the Sanders signs, and drove back to South Carolina without sticking around. McWade was “sitting there in a very safe area ... with her air conditioning on and her car locked, she was perfectly fine,” he said. He didn’t know she had disabilities, he said, but noted, “there’s a huge difference between being disabled and drawing disability.” 

He said if he had known about her disabilities, he still would not have towed her car, but he would have waited with her for another service to arrive.

This "Christian" tow trucker operator sounds like the type who practices "secondary separation," where you have to avoid anything that is even remotely sinful. Presumably, towing a car with a Bernie Sanders sticker on it might give the impression that he supports "communism" or whatever they're saying about Sanders. The fact that he also disrespected her for being disabled and taking disability payments is another indicator of why I don't trust "pro-lifers" (because I'm sure he loves disabled fetuses, but not disabled adults who might not be able to work full-time and are therefore "moochers") to do anything constructive for disability rights.

Most tows after an accident are paid for by auto insurance so I call bullshit about the not being paid by "socialists."  Besides most of us socialists don't wear a badge that says socialist or a t-shirt that proclaims "Socialist!".  We don't have license plates/plate holders that say socialist either.  (My plate holder says "Let's motor!")  Of course, around here (the western Carolinas) anything that isn't right-wing is seen by some as socialist.

My bullshit sensors went off too upon reading that.  What probably happened was that the insurance companies didn't pay him right away and instead of blaming them he went and blamed the people who were in the accident.  I'd say to him hey look asshole don't blame these people, call the insurance company if they're not paying you.  Or at least ask the people in the accident if they can call their insurance agent to find out what's going on.  I had an accident last fall and it took a while for my insurance company to do their thing and pay people - I had to badger my agent and the people in their corporate offices.

I don't have license plate holders anymore - I used to have an Iowa Hawkeyes one on my rear plate but I got pulled over by a cop who proceeded to give me a ticket for having the county and registration sticker covered up by the holder.  It's actually against DOT regulations here in Iowa to have any characters or government stickers on the plate obstructed.  Most cops won't even bother enforcing those rules but every once in a while you get that cop who is bored or is a jerk and decides to enforce the regulation.

God knows many reich wingers would like people even the slightest bit progressive to wear badges or other identifying clothing or marks that say "socialist."  We have one guy that is constantly on the local newspaper's comments section complaining any time the city spends money on anything, saying it's socialism.  The city manager is a "socialist diktator" (sic) and the people on the council are idiots according to him.  Of course he never complains when those ebil socialist snow plows clear the streets after a snowstorm.
