Sincere question that I was wondering about last night as I was trying to fall asleep.....when and why did the "I" get chopped off LGBT/LGBTQ? I remember LGBTIQ going back......forever. They have serious issues facing them in the world.

Usually what I see written now is LGBTQ+ or LGBT+. But I think the '+' may get chopped off when people speak. My favourite all inclusive terms are "the queer rainbow" or "the queer/rainbow umbrella". To my ear, it sounds more pleasing and inclusive than listing the various groups involved.

Good question. I don't recall when the I disappeared. However I still see GLBT in older group names.

I really like the "+". I've never seen that before. I remember back when, in an attempt to be as inclusive as possible, the acronym ran about 12 letters....lgbtiqq....that's as far as I remember.
