fundies using exercise as punishment

It's like when teachers assign reading or writing as punishment for their misbehaving students. Turning something that should be educational and/or enjoyable into punishment doesn't foster good lifelong habits in kids.

Having said that... when my stepdaughters were younger too keyed up for a nap, I'd having them run a couple of laps around the house before lunch. But I made it fun, clapping and cheering them on. Their little heads would be drooping by the end of lunch, and sleep wasn't an issue. :D

When I first read this post. I was thinking of how exercise could be punishment if your children gain awesome athletic abilities but because of religious beliefs were not allowed to further pursue them. On a serious note, I don't see the exercise in itself being wrong.Sometimes children misbehave because of having excess energy. What is wrong when it is being combined with corporal punishment especially when you know that your kids will mess up.
