Unconfessed Sin

I've been keeping up with Elliot Alexander's blog and this entry intrigued me:

I am curious what his "unconfessed sin" that ended his courtship a couple of years back. I remember the Alexander's announced his courtship on their blog & a couple of posts showed pictures of the couple but all of a sudden everything was purged without any mention as to why. What could he have done bad enough to make the family decide to stop the courtship? Interesting. My two theories are either he had kissed another girl or had looked up porn on the internet. One of his previous entries mentions a struggle with lust which would back up the latter. I'm kind of surprised he is sharing so much about this on his blog!

Why wouldn't he simply confess his sin to God rather than his potential future father in law?

This is why the fundies could use some priests. They are worse than some of the churches that they hate. Public confession and chastisement? Is it any wonder people try to hide things? Needing to confess to your future FIL? They can't see that as crazy?

I actually feel a little sorry for the guy. If I'm reading his blog right, it sounds like he was (& probably still is) having typical teenage curiosity about sex . It's not sinful to think about sex and/or want to experience it! His upbringing, though, has made him feel like a dirty sinner who needs to be punished for his desires. It is so sad and ridiculous at the same time.
