Now that said "half man" is now a grown man, if he really wanted out his contract, they'd probably let him after some haggling. Now, he might have to give up some money for it, and that could be a whole other kettle of fish.

They could write it easily enough, with him leaving home for whatever reason, then they could bring in another "half man" and do the early season stories all over again--they could have the new kid be the product of one of Kutcher's character's one-night stands. Granted, it sounds like the kiss of death and probably would be, but the show's on its way out anyway. I can't imagine it could be any worse than having some fundie moron accepting a check with one hand while shaking his finger at everyone with the other.

I can't see Chuck Lorre keeping him on if he's that unhappy. Chuck isn't a nice person if you cross him. That show is a cash cow, just like BBT. My stepbrother works on BBT and says that if Chuck likes your work and your work ethic he'll help you. This kid is now biting the hand that feeds him. If that means the show goes away, it's had a good run, it's still making money in syndication and I don't think too many people will miss it.

:naughty:

Even if he does have a contract he can't get out of, and he thinks the show isn't appropriate or good or anything (I've seen, like, one episode.) he still is being a dick. A lot of people work on that show, more than just the actors and the actresses and the producer and writers. When you shut down production, people lose their jobs. People who make modest salaries doing things like catering and lights. People who are security guards and assistants. People who do hair and makeup. So fucking selfish of him.

Isn't that exactly the sort of dick moves that Kirk Cameron made when he was on his tv show? I seem to recall he got an actress fired because she didn't fit his requirements for a godly co-star. And that was a front of the camera person. Who knows what went on with crew people.

Selfish shit.

So he should put his money where his mouth is and return all the money he made (or better yet give it to me - I promise I will use it for good).

Suzanne Somers' antics behind the scenes at Three's Company did cause a lot of problems for the crew and part of the reason Joyce DeWitt had beef with Somers for a long time was because of that. On TV show sets, some actors become good friends with the crew members. I remember during the writers strike in 2007, there were actors that were torn about the strike because they felt bad for the writers, but they also worried about the crew and others. With Kirk Cameron he also called the producers of Growing Pains pornographers because there was supposed to be a scene of Mike Seaver using a key to get into his girlfriend's apartment. The Julie McCullough incident was messed up and I still feel bad for her. Kirk's relationship with his cast mates soured and Tracy Gold talked about it in her book. She said that Kirk didn't invite anyone from the cast or crew to his wedding.

Another thing I will add this incident with Angus also reminds me of Erin Moran accusing the Happy Days cast and crew of things after she went through some religious conversion.

What I don't understand is why did he re-up his contract in 2010 if he felt so strongly about it?!?!?! He could have left the show. Of course, I guess not even Jesus could convince this kid to give up $300k/episode, huh? I would feel more sympathetic towards him if he was locked in a contract and he was a young kid. However, the kid is 19, he just re-signed his contract for more money than most people will see in their lifetime, and he then he tells everyone he's a victim of some Satan's plot. I hate hypocrites and I hate fundies who cry persecution. I hope he does get his wish and gets his walking papers. Then, maybe he'll realize that most acting jobs do not pay you $300k/episode for a no-name actor who offers little in the way of talent (or class).

Um, if he doesn't want to be on it, why doesn't he just quit?

Because he makes $350,000 an episode, which works itself out to be just under $8M a year?

If he seriously wanted out, the first move would have been to call an entertainment lawyer and get negotiated out not make a whiny video. I've watched one or two episodes and there was nothing satanic in them. Poor taste and nothing that drew me back to keep watching was what kept me away.

Does his contract stipulate that he gets paid even if the show is cancelled? Because that would kinda explain why he is trying to get it cancelled rather than weaseling out of the contract.

It's very doubtful any TV contract is written to keep paying the actors if the show is cancelled. When shows are cancelled so are the accounting lines associated with them. The only lines open to charge to are the closeout accounts.

A lot of actors have pay or play contracts. These stipulate that the actor gets paid if the job doesn't happen because of something out of their control (ex. if a show is canceled, financing for a movie falls through, etc.). If the network cancels the show (something beyond his control) and Angus has a pay or play contract he'll still get paid.

Normally the pay or play contracts are not given on primetime television series and if they do are reserved for really big name stars who can hold out for them. Late night TV hosts can get them and some of the news shows do also, but I highly doubt Angus was able to wrangle one.

Oh my goodness, that kid has grown up to be so fugly. I watched a few episodes of the show when it first started and all I remember was a neurotic, a layabout, and a cute little chubster. Tbh, when tiger winning man went mad all over Twitter I was surprised to hear the show was still running. Seriously, who keeps this stuff on air?

Shame about the fundie Adventists. They run great hospitals.

As someone who grew up SDA this does not strike me as an SDA move, as Trynn mentioned. And the website seems like they are really trying to align with a more IHOP style.

David Koresh, anyone???

I detect ulterior motives.

Why would such a True Christian keep working for such an evil show?

As for all the 'satanic' shit... I bet there are some immodestly dressed women and a bit if cursing, not to mention the guy knew Charlie Sheen. Welcome to acting, kid, none if its fundie approved. Put on your big boy pants, either leave or STFU.

The Seventh Day Adventist church does not require a convert to do that. At least, not any mainstream Adventist church. I'm sure there are fundy Adventist churches around, but I've never been to one personally, so I couldn't say. I do know, from growing up Seventh Day Adventist, that no SDA church would require that. So if he is involved with SDAs, they're either not requiring it, or they're deviating from the mainstream. *

I did actually stop watching 2 1/2 men because it didn't line up with my Christian beliefs. However, I did not make a big production out of it and insist that everyone else stop watching it too. I just told my cousin to no longer call me down for the show when it was on, and that was the end of it. I don't remember a 19 year old, so this must've been in the show's first few seasons.

I think it's one thing to state, "My beliefs no longer line up with what I am doing, but I am unable to get out because of a contract" to saying, "ZOMG SATAN!!1!!!!!111!!!!!! EVERYONE STOP WATCHING ME ON TV NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!"

*Unless you're talking about a public declaration of salvation being BAPTISM, which is a public symbol of accepting Jesus, but at one's baptism it would never be REQUIRED to announce and denounce former sins, though that's mainly what people end up doing anyway. When I was baptized, there was no pressure at all to do this.

The church was a small independent fundamental baptist (they think Bob Jones University is too liberal). She was required to call all of her close friends & family right after the revival service she was at & tell us she had been saved. The preacher was standing right beside her to hear every word. Then she had to write a letter to the pastor & deacons at her former church & tell them how far from God's true will they are & how they are all going to burn in hell. Seriously. She showed me a copy.

I could seriously write a book on the crazy that's come from her fundie conversion.

Now I really want to tell her Angus T. Jones is a Seventh Day Adventist & watch her backpedal about the whole Godly young man standing up for his beliefs thing. She thinks anyone who isn't IFB is going straight to hell.

When I read an article about this yesterday, there was a warning to take it with a grain of salt- it might be a prank or joke of some sort. Sorry, can't find the link now.

*gasp* Another Adventist(or former SDA)? Really? Cool! I like, never meet anybody else. Do you still consider yourself Adventist? I personally don't, but I do still consider myself to be associated with them because they are my culture. So I guess I'm still loosely associated. Hah.

The whole Satan controlling the tv show thing does sound a lot like stuff I've heard some fundy Adventists spout. I expect certain SDA pastors to take this and run with it for a while. Frankly, however, most of us don't want to claim this guy.

And yes, I wasn't old enough to remember Koresh, but I've read books about him *shudder*.

@feministshrew oh I see, you weren't trying to say that was normal of SDAs. My bad. That is a horrible thing to make a person do, and I'm sorry she had to go through that.
