Agree to all of the above, but I think a primary difference this time around is that the Republican Party is now actively courting the crazies. In the past there were more attempts to distance the party from the lunatic fringe. Or perhaps the crazies have succeeded in infiltrating the Party enough to dominate it?

So apparently the gop doesn't want to let you have an abortion when you're raped and then they will retraumatised you and make you're life a thousand times harder if you have the baby. I don't understand this. I really think that some of these people consider rape victims to be the one at fault in the situation.

Good (ish) news: New Mexico's governor caved to pressure and had the word "forcible" removed from the legislation. It seems they are claiming the language is standard language, thanks to some outdated FBI terminology.
