Actually, Laura Ingalls Wilder advocated for women's rights and Fraulein Maria (the real one) was quite a formidable, assertive frau.

I wonder if these men, the "fighters" ever stop to think about why they have such a hard time with their "impure" thoughts. It's because they have been taught to notice every single instance of "inappropriate" clothing on other people when they go out. They can't just go out into a mall or whatever without the immodesty radar burning hot. Normal men can go to a mall, see some scantily clad women, and really not even register it. I'm sure some subconscious part of their brain lights up, or maybe they consciously think "Oh wow, that's nice". But then they move on with their day without dwelling on it. Fundies, on the other hand, see a minor flash of cleavage and are instantly consumed with guilt over their impure minds, probably praying desperately for forgiveness, and filing it away as another transgression against their future wife. All that dwelling can't possibly be good for the mind.

It's like OCD. All people have passing disturbing thoughts. "I could totally run over the kid on the tricycle with my car." In most people, they recognize that's just a random thought, ignore it and move on. Sure, you could do horrible, terrible things, but you're not going to, so who cares? People with OCD can't do that. The mere fact that such a thought could go through your mind is extremely distressing. If you can think it, you might actually do it. That distress makes the thought stick in your head, as you revisit it again and again, wanting to double check that you haven't actually done anything.

Men who fly to Thailand or tap into any other under age sex slave organization are not doing so because women are scantily dressed. These men are pedophilies and are sexually aroused by young children. Not by an actual woman.

This whole article pissed me off because she is blaming the victim for the way they were dressed. She is saying that. Immodestly dressed women are inhibiting the freedom of males everywhere and causing them to do to horrible things. Bullshit. Everyone has the right to be free from harm and harassment end of story.

Not everyone's sexual arousal is triggered by the same sight, sound, smell, taste, etc. I occassionally get turned on by watching my headship vacuum. I guess I need to start a line of modest vacuuming attire? Or I have learn to control my urges and not jump my headship while he vacuums at least not while our child is at home. The world is not always a safe and comfortable place and most likely will never be for every second of a person's waking life. Learning to have inner peace, happiness, calm, urge control, in my opinion, makes navigating life much easier. Why do most fundies not seem to grasp this concept?

Immodestly dressed women are not the problem. A male or a woman enjoying some eye candy is not the problem. It is the thoughts or behaviors that follow that are the problem. So the male feels lust and according to his religious beliefs that is a sin. How does he, normally, deal with his naturally sinful nature or other times he has sin? Maybe he should do that instead of judging and condemning women for dressing in revealing ways. They arent the sinner. He is?

This. And the worst part is, the people that hold these opinions are the same people who say the men should be in charge. If a man gets so consumed with lust at the sight of a woman in shorts and a tank top that he could potentially assault her, he should not be in charge of anything. Someone with that little self-control does not belong in any position of authority.
