I'm reminded of Mark Fox, the evangelist who specialised in narrations and songs in the character of 'Lil Markie' (who was variously begging his mother not to abort him, or telling his dad to forgive himself for killing him and stop being an alcoholic).  Video below, the gold kicks in around 1minute.
