Big storm churning on Uranus

Uranus, a huge gaseous world some 1.8 billion miles from the sun, is quite stormy.

NASA's long-lived Hubble telescope spotted a notable storm churning inside the planet's blue-green atmosphere, and the space agency posted the image online Thursday.

The entirety of Uranus' north pole is engulfed by a "vast bright stormy cloud cap," wrote NASA.

"Scientists believe this new feature is a result of Uranus' unique rotation," added NASA, noting that, unlike the other planets in our solar system, Uranus is tipped on its side. This leaves the sun shining non-stop onto its north pole during its long summer, likely resulting in widespread atmospheric changes.

Insert jokes about storms around Uranus here.

Well, seeing as it's a gas giant, it was really only a matter of time before a giant storm started brewing in the gas clouds of uranus.

Thankfully we can rely on NASA to closely monitor any changes in the weather conditions of uranus and report to us once the storm has cleared.

Of course if it was a giant orange fart cloud the storm could've been named after Fornicate Face.

A couple years ago, there's was a headline "Hubble just spotted something massive coming out of Uranus." I can't imagine being an astronomer specializing in Uranaus. How do you get anyone t take you seriously?

I wonder if Johann Elert Bode knew how juvenile the name would become he would have not put the name Uranus forward for the 7th planet.  Maybe gone with Ouranos which is the Greek name.

Thank you Mr. Bode for years of entertainment by giving us a planet dedicated to Uranus.
